Journal: What are four things you can do to show that you are an active listener? and how do you use them using 3-5 sentences.

Assignment: today in class we reviewed what makes a good listener and what those four steps were. Then we applied those four listening skills in a class debate which the students choose, android vs i-phone.

Journal: list all 11 skill cues for archery.

For today’s assignment we talked about the 11 steps to shoot a bow and arrow, and then cause it was a short and we had little time we played sandman, and a modified version of dodgeball, where the students instead of throwing the ball at their classmates they threw them at targets.

Journal: List two good and two bad communication skills used in the you tube video “who’s on first…”

Assignment: As a class we did an art project where student A drew a picture, then three minutes later they were to describe their picture to student B. Student B could not look at student A’s picture. As a class we discussed how communication is important and how listening plays a role in the communication process. Students then watched a short video on how to perform effective listening, how it works, and what it looks like.

Journal: students are to turn their journals from last week.

assignment: students practiced shooting and they used their targets that they created and they also learned how to replace their nocks on their arrows if their nock fell off.

Journal: Write down one example from the past two days when you used a passive, assertive, and or aggressive response. Use at least 3-5 sentences.

assignment: today we finished the “swat” game and we talked about why it is important to be assertive and how to use it during daily life. Later the students play the phone game to see how communication can get distorted. Students then watched the video about Albert and Castillo to watch good and bad communication skills.

Journal: Draw and label the target with the point system.

Todays assignment we practiced shooting at targets, and counting up the points that they earned. Some students choose to play “hoarse” and or “pig” with their partner. Students also earned points for using the skill cues.

Journal: Define the word “value” in 3-5 sentences, and list 2-3 examples of values.

Lesson: I passed back their journals and their assignments from last week, and passed out the new study guide for this week. Today we defined what passive, assertive, and aggressive behaviors are when we respond to different situations. As a class we gave examples or stories, and as individuals we gave answers to how we would respond either passive, assertive, and or aggressive. We played the the “swat” game where students were to strike the board first when given a clue about one of the three ways to respond to different situations.

Journal: students are to write or draw and label the parts of the bow and arrow. (If you were absent, you may come get the examples to draw your own.)

assignment: Today I passed back last weeks journal, talked about the test which is on February 19. Then today the students practiced shooting at targets, and I looked at who needed help and or support.
