Chaperons Needed

volunteerIn April we are doing TWO fantastic trips. On April 10th we are walking over to the North Ogden Community Gardens and doing Spring Clean Up.  I need two chaperons to join us.

On April 24th, we will be riding the city bus over to the Ogden Weber Applied Technology College for a tour.  We are splitting the school into two trips and need 4 chaperons on each trip.

Below is a WE-JOIN-IN link that is limited.  Sign ups will close when the needed chaperons positions are filled.  It’s quite fun to observe teenagers in their natural habitat so take advantage of this opportunity.

If you plan to attend plan to arrive around 8 am.  (see link to map) Ms. Kevi is going directly to the Farm if you need to drop off students as scheduled by 9 am.  The test itself starts at  9:30 and lasts two minutes.  Come prepared with board games, a ball to toss, or something to keep you occupied until the test is scheduled to begin. Directly after the test Farm students are to make their way to the farm and those not attending the farm will head back to the school for a school excused tardy.

Email Ms. Emily egoddard@mariamontessoriacademy.org with questions or concerns.

Transportation to the Farm

We have a VERY limited number of certified drivers available to help with transportation to the farm. These are drivers that have had a background check and having so graciously taken an on-line course to help keep the students as safe as possible. However, we are not limited to certified drivers.  Parents are welcome to coordinate their own carpools and we encourage them to do so in order to support our number of outings.

Wednesdays Carpool sign up (limited)

Thursday’s Carpool sign up (limited)

With this in mind, parents are still responsible for their child’s transportation or need to find transportation to & from the farm for their child. (as noted on the permission slip). Certified drivers spaces fill up very quickly on our We Join In link because they are limited. (please do not sign up if you did not turn in your permission slip)

If you have forgotten what day you are going to attend the farm please see this sheet…  Students attending the Farm

If you are planning to drive your child, and don’t mind taking others, please have your child ask friends if they they still need a ride so we can help as many as possible.

If you are interested in becoming a certified driver to help provide a solution to this limitation please contact Ms. Jaime. (jboothe@mariamontessoriacademy.org)

Other ideas:

  1. Several students will check with friends to see if they can ride together
  2. Parents will ask other parents to take while the other picks up.

If you are unable to find a ride, please still come to the school as a regular day. There will be Jr High teachers here and classes will be held. Thank you!

Also, THANK YOU to those who signed up for food donations. Please make sure Ms Emily gets these items by Monday March 9th.

Chaperons for the Farm

If any parents are interested in joining us on our Jr High visit to the Holmgren Historic Farm please send Ms Jaime an email jboothe@mariamontessoriacademy.org if you are interested.

Some students are attending on Wednesday, March 11 & others are schedule to attend Thursday, March 12. If you are planning to bring your child to the farm on their scheduled day, you can also stay the day with us as a chaperon! Parent chaperons will assist the teacher during the day in certain activities. Students will be split in small groups for many of the activities, so you would help the kids stay with the group & be focused.

Lunch would be provided. We are planning to make Dutch Oven Chili! If you would also like to sign up for any ingredients to donate prior to the farm, please see http://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/zfdas  All donated ingredients need to be at the Jr High by March 9th.
