Field Trip Tomorrow

Hi,

I wanted to touch base about our field trip for tomorrow.  Ms. Jalee has done a fantastic job arranging our field trips this year.  We received some information regarding the trip for tomorrow.  They are asking that we now arrive at 10:15 a.m., I will be meeting families at North Shore Parking lot along the fence, like last time, at 9:45 a.m.  This is 15 minutes earlier than what was originally written on the cover letter.  If it is not possible for you to arrive this early, I will still wait with your child here at the school.  Ms. Steph will leave first to meet students at the farm.

The weather has a slight chance of rain and will be cooler, students may wear jeans tomorrow, but no holes.  They will still need a school spirit shirt or collared shirt.  Please have a jacket and good sturdy shoes.

Students will need a sack lunch, no warm ups.  Please send a water bottle.  They will need to have these in a small backpack that they will be in charge of carrying.  If your child is riding with someone and uses a booster, please send the booster to school.

Our class will not be bringing money to purchase pumpkins.  This has been a problem in the past with students loosing their money, upset that they too don’t have money, etc.  Please be supportive in not buying pumpkins or other items at the field trip.

Chaperones will be free and we appreciate all the support we can get.  Siblings who attend will be $4.00.

If you have further questions or concerns, please let me know.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow and appreciate all the support you offer in order to make these experiences a success.

Thank You for all your help with our field trip

I want to thank everyone for all their help and patience today during our field trip.  The production was beautiful. They did start late and it ran longer than our field trip plan stated.  Unfortunately, the long line out of the pay lot was not well thought through and I personally waited in line nearly 40 minutes and was not able to make it back before the bell rang like originally planned.  I appreciate how everyone supported each other once students arrived back at our meeting spot at North Shore.

This year our field trips are different from years past.  The lower el team with be attending the same field trips, sometimes on different days.  We have a team member who is currently working to organize and plan all of the final details throughout the year.  I will let you know the upcoming dates and details are soon as I do, so you can plan accordingly.

I do know our next field trip is scheduled for Thursday, October 9th.  I have not yet received the formal cover letter and permission slips, but wanted to give some notice.  We will be visiting Green Acres Dairy Farm with an arrival time of 10:30 a.m.  I will have details and ride signs up as soon as possible.

Thank you again for all your help in making these experience come to life.

Field Trip Rides

You can find the sign up for field trip rides here. Please sign up in the last column  even if  you are providing your own ride for your child.  This will allow for me to be certain everyone has a ride to the performance.

If you are still available to drive and have not confirmed with me, please send me an email and I will add your name to the list.

I will be providing a track it forward sign up for parent drivers to log hours.  I also wanted to let you know that I was just informed that drivers will need to pay a small parking fee if they are staying for the performance.  I have a very limited number of seats for parents, so please let me know if you are wishing to stay and help chaperone during the hour long show.

Thank you

We will be doing some follow-up work inside the classroom on Monday, but I would encourage you to continue conversations related to the important role we have in caring for our planet and the differences we can make.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s home project this week relating to Earth Day.

(Families who order pizza, your student’s pizza will be available on Monday)

Important Reminders

Please remember that Friday, April 20th is our field trip to the Ogden Botanical Garden.  Do not bring students to school this day.  If for any reason you are not able to arrange a ride for your child, please let me know, ASAP.  The details of this field experience can be found here.

Also, level 3 students have SAGE testing on Monday morning.  This will be the writing portion of the test.  Encourage them to do their best, get a good night sleep, and have a good breakfast.

We had a wonderful week back and the students did a great job transitioning back into work after the break.  They are an amazing little community and they are really coming together to help support one another in Ms. Kay’s absence.  I sent home their work charts from this week and I would encourage you to have a conversation with your child about the wonderful work they are completing.  Most were excited to share how hard they worked.  Next week I will send home their work chart once again.  If I have concerns, I will attach a follow-up letter for you to sign and return.  My hope is to maintain or improve their current work habits as we head into our final weeks of school.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please let me know.
