Last Week of School

Just a quick reminder about our final week of school.  It will be early out at 1:00 p.m. all week.  We prefer to have lunch outside during the final week of school.  If possible, please avoid sending lunch items that need to be heated, especially on Tuesday.

Tuesday is our early childhood bridging ceremony and we will be having a picnic lunch with the new students entering our classroom.

On Wednesday, we have our level 3 bridging ceremony.  This will take place on the outside field at 10:30 a.m., all level 3 parents are encouraged to attend.

Thursday, students will be having their store.  Each student will open their own business. They may create good to sell, offer a service, or sell unwanted items.  Students are not to buy things at the store to sell for their business.  Some ideas from the past include: origami, handmade bracelets, drawings, rocks, popcorn, watching magic tricks, etc.  Also, in the past, students have brought unwanted items like old games, books, and such, if an item comes in with a value of more than a dollar, they need a parent note in order to sell it at store.

Friday is our yearbook signing.

I look forward to visiting with everyone during our upcoming conferences.  This last round of conferences will be student led.

Appreciation

Thank you for all the thoughtful notes and gifts during teacher appreciate week.  I sure feel lucky that I get to spend my day with these amazing individuals.

I also want to thank you for taking the time to come visit our classroom for our Mother’s Day celebration.  We appreciate all of you and hope that you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Zoo Field Trip

Important!  Please Read!

Wednesday is our Hogle Zoo field trip.  If you are riding with a certified driver, please meet at the school just before 8:00 a.m. in the North Shore parking lot.  We would like to leave the school at 8:00 a.m. We have a few opening for rides found here.  If you are arranging your own rides, please arrive at the Hogle Zoo North Parking Lot by 9:15 a.m.  This is across the street from the main zoo entrance.  We will gather in this parking lot, as a group, and then cross the street together and enter the zoo as a group.  If your child is not attending, please let me know, so we are not waiting for their arrival.  Please be mindful that additional chaperones and siblings will be responsible for their own admission.  The zoo has a pretty strict chaperone policy and I will provide that information to you once we arrive on Wednesday morning.  I will send home a letter tomorrow afternoon outlining a few keys points about our field trip.  The weather looks to be a little rainy, but this actually is when some of the best animal observation is possible.  Please make certain your child is prepared for the weather.  We will be leaving the zoo by 1:30, so students who are riding with certified drivers will be back to school in time for end of day dismissal.

Mother’s Day Celebration

Reminder, Friday, May 12th, at 1:45 p.m. we will be gathering in our classroom for our Mother’s Day Celebration.  Please wait outside the classroom until 1:45 p.m.  It will be short and sweet.  If mothers are unable to come, another guest may attend.   If this is the case, I would love to know in advance, so we can properly prepare.   Space is limited, so please only one guest per student.

Level 3 SAGE Test

Reminder, tomorrow morning is our last day of SAGE testing for the level 3 students.  We will be celebrating all their hard work, at the third grade party, next Thursday, May 18th.  Please make certain your child gets a good night sleep and a breakfast with protein.
