I wanted to let everyone know that I will not be in class next week. I will be chaperoning the sixth grade field trip. Ms. Dixie will be covering the class in my absence.
Remember that level 3 students have their SAGE math test on Monday morning. Please make certain your child gets a good nights sleep, hearty breakfast, and a boost of confidence to give it their best. This is the time to celebrate all their hard work.
I was just informed that our end of year reading assessments will begin tomorrow morning. This is a wonderful time to celebrate all of their hard work! Our reading specialists have asked us to remind you to make certain your child gets a good night rest and a hearty breakfast. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I wanted to let everyone know that we have a permanent sub, Ms. Dixie, working within our classroom. We are so grateful to have her and her talents. She has been a valuable asset here at MMA, as a substitute teacher, and we are so fortunate she has agreed to stay with our classroom community until the end of this year. She has been with us all week and the students love her and have welcomed her into their community.
I want to thank everyone for their support today with our Earth Day service project and field experience. The weather turned out to be beautiful and we had an amazing time. I couldn’t do it without all your support, thank you!
We will be doing some follow-up work inside the classroom on Monday, but I would encourage you to continue conversations related to the important role we have in caring for our planet and the differences we can make.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s home project this week relating to Earth Day.

April: Our Earth
Earth day is coming up on April 22nd. This is a great opportunity for students to do home projects in relation to our earth. Some ideas could be: ways we can conserve water, endangered species, recycling, botany, how to compost, etc. These projects are due April 28th, but I would really encourage students to avoid the last week of the month.
Please remember that Friday, April 20th is our field trip to the Ogden Botanical Garden. Do not bring students to school this day. If for any reason you are not able to arrange a ride for your child, please let me know, ASAP. The details of this field experience can be found here.
Also, level 3 students have SAGE testing on Monday morning. This will be the writing portion of the test. Encourage them to do their best, get a good night sleep, and have a good breakfast.
We had a wonderful week back and the students did a great job transitioning back into work after the break. They are an amazing little community and they are really coming together to help support one another in Ms. Kay’s absence. I sent home their work charts from this week and I would encourage you to have a conversation with your child about the wonderful work they are completing. Most were excited to share how hard they worked. Next week I will send home their work chart once again. If I have concerns, I will attach a follow-up letter for you to sign and return. My hope is to maintain or improve their current work habits as we head into our final weeks of school.
