Parents, the policy for food for the international festival is a little different this year. All food need to have prior approval. If your child is planning on bringing food for sampling, please sent me an email by Wednesday. Thanks.
Monthly Archives: December 2015
Reminders
Tuesday: Box Tops
Wednesday: Upper Elementary presents for the International Festival from 9-11 a.m. Parents are invited and may take their own children around to visit other classrooms.
Thursday: Lower Elementary Presents for the International Festival from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to attend. Students will present in their own classroom for a portion of the time and will be allowed to visit other classrooms for another portion of the time. I will not be at school this day, but Ms. Susan and Ms. Jennifer will be here to assist the students through the festival.
Friday: Readers Theater at 11:45 p.m. in the library. Please go directly to the library when you arrive. This will allow for us to have students ready to enter the library on time. Please note, this is a fun and very informal production. Some students are working on their confidence in front of an audience, reading fluently, etc. We are really excited, but it may require some patience from the audience. We have 5 different groups that will perform this day. Once the performance is complete, please feel free to visit with our classroom community (great time to make play date arrangements), gather belongings for the long break (don’t forget lunch boxes and water bottles), and leave for the day. Friday is early out at 1:00 p.m.
Snack
Families,
Thank you for your generosity in sending snack these past few weeks. A thoughtful parent created our wejoin sheet for snack and I recently realized it is allowing for multiple families to sign up for one week. In the future, if someone is already signed up for a week, please choose a different week. I believe we have enough snack for the remainder of the week, so please do not send any additional snack before the break. Thank you again.
Third Grade SAGE Writing Test Reminder
Just a quick reminder, tomorrow morning the third graders will be taking their SAGE writing test. Please make certain they are to school on time and ready with a good breakfast. They may bring their own individual snack, but I will have something for them. The snack should not be noisy and overly messy.
Readers Theater
Our class has been working on some holiday reader theaters. We would like to invite you to come watch our performance, in the school library, on Friday, December 18th. We plan to start close to 11:45 a.m. It can take a few minutes to get checked into the school, so you may want to allow yourself a few extra minutes. This is an early out day and our performance will carry us close to end of the day. Students will be free to gather their things and leave with you after the performance.
We have 5 stories to present. Reader theater is a great way for students to practice their fluency and expression while reading. If you are interested in helping your student outside of class with their reading parts, please feel free to email me. I would be happy to send home a copy.
Nutcracker and more
Tomorrow we will be attending the Nutcracker ballet. Students are encouraged to wear their best dress. If girls choose to wear a nice dress, it may be collarless, but it must have sleeves that cover the shoulders.
Message from Ms. Connie
We are incredibly excited to celebrate this Holiday season with music this year! Yay! Upper and Lower El are putting on a Holiday show on Thursday, December 10th and you and your family are invited! Since there are so many children we have decided to have half of the children perform at 6 o’clock and half at 7 o’clock. If your child’s last name starts with the letters A-L they will perform at 6:00pm. If the child’s last name starts with the letters M-Z they will perform at 7:00pm. If you have multiple last names for multiple children in your family, then you get to choose which concert you go to! This will only effect some of you. I would like to encourage the children to dress in their most beautiful holiday clothing! Shirt, tie, slacks for boys and dresses with tights or leggings for girls if you have them. I am sure this will be a memorable experience for them as they dress up and put on their smiling faces for this wondrous occasion! Happy Holidays!
Snack
Our cupboards are bare. If you would be willing to sign up for snack for the remainder of this week, we would really appreciate it. I don’t have anyone signed up for next week either. We will need lots of sign ups into next year as well. Please sign up here. We ask that all families take a turn providing for the class snack. If you have already signed up for two weeks during the school year, you will not need to sign up for any additional. Thank you for you help and support.
