Parent Teacher Conference October 15th, 16th, 17th

Parent Teacher Conference is right around the corner.  I am looking forward to celebrating your amazing children with you.  Please look here for our track it forward sign up sheet.  You will find our sign up times listed on the above dates labeled Ms. Brittany PTC.  If you have questions or concerns, please let me know.  I look forward to our upcoming visit.

Reading Volunteers

We are officially ending our normalization period and would like to ask for volunteers to come and read with our students.  The only day that we would not be able to fully utilize volunteers is on Tuesdays, since we have our specials that day.  I prefer morning help, but will not decline afternoon help.  If you are interested and available, please send me an email with the days and times you wish to come.  Thank you for your willingness to help our classroom community.

Upcoming Field Trip

Hi,

Today your student should have brought home a permission slip for some of our upcoming field trips and a cover letter for our field trip on October 11th.  I have included a copy of the cover letter in this post.  On the permission slips, please initial next to each field trip that you are granting permission.  Please return asap.  If you are willing to drive, please send me an email with the amount of available seats that you have available.  I will create a sign up sheet like we did for our last field trip.  I will also have sign up if you are providing your own ride, these helps with any last minute panics.

Thank you for all your support, if you have questions or concerns, please let me know.

Lice Exposure

I sent an email today informing you that we have at least one student who is currently being treated for head lice.  I wanted to make you aware we will not use the school wide headphones during our computer on wheels time in our classroom, to reduce exposure, but when students are in the computer lab they are using school wide headphones.  Your child may bring their own headphones or earbuds to use during computer time.  Bluetooth will not work.  I will provide storage bags and a place to keep them within the classroom.

I also have a few students who like to use noise reducing headphones.  Those will be assigned to only specific students for the school year.  If you wish to provide your own for your child, I will provide storage bags and a storage location.

If you have further questions or concerns, please let me know.

Thank You for all your help with our field trip

I want to thank everyone for all their help and patience today during our field trip.  The production was beautiful. They did start late and it ran longer than our field trip plan stated.  Unfortunately, the long line out of the pay lot was not well thought through and I personally waited in line nearly 40 minutes and was not able to make it back before the bell rang like originally planned.  I appreciate how everyone supported each other once students arrived back at our meeting spot at North Shore.

This year our field trips are different from years past.  The lower el team with be attending the same field trips, sometimes on different days.  We have a team member who is currently working to organize and plan all of the final details throughout the year.  I will let you know the upcoming dates and details are soon as I do, so you can plan accordingly.

I do know our next field trip is scheduled for Thursday, October 9th.  I have not yet received the formal cover letter and permission slips, but wanted to give some notice.  We will be visiting Green Acres Dairy Farm with an arrival time of 10:30 a.m.  I will have details and ride signs up as soon as possible.

Thank you again for all your help in making these experience come to life.

Important: Friday Field Trip

Browning Center Event Parking

Please click the above link to see a parking map provided for our field trip Friday.  The building we will be visiting is labeled BC.  The hourly parking lot is marked with a red “X”.  All of the lower elementary classrooms will be attending this day and I anticipate it being a little challenging to find our entire class together.  My hope is to gather our class safely near the “U” shaped road, toward the south side, near the Browning Center entrance.  I ask for everyone’s patience as we work together.

When you come to the school to pick up your children to drive to the field trip, please meet in the North Shore parking lot.  I will walk our class over near the fence.  Please walk over to pick up your child and any other students you will be providing a ride.  They need to check out with me before they walk over to your car.

Please arrive on time to pick up your child.  We plan to leave at 11:45 a.m.  I will have the students over there closer to 11:40 a.m. I need to stay at the school until everyone has left.  Then, once you arrive at WSU, please stay with your child until I arrive to gather the children, please do not leave them unattended.

We will gather at the same place for pick-up after the show.  You must check out with me before you take your child.

Home Projects 2018-2019 School Year

Our blog page for home projects for the year can be found here.  For those of you who are new to our class, please take the time to read over the description of home projects and feel free to email me with any questions.  For those of you who are returning, the projects are similar in structure, just a change in themes.  The themes are school wide  and many surround school wide events.  Our first project will be due by Friday, October 5th.  Students can bring their project in at anytime between now and the 5th of October.

If you have questions or concerns, please let me know.

Back to School Night
