Natural History Museum Field Trip is Tomorrow!
Students need to be at the Museum no later than 9:45 am! You will need to drop them off at the circle drive in front of the Museum. Please be available to pick up your child at 2:00pm at the same place. The address to the Natural History Museum is 301 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108
Students will use the museum as an extension of their classrooms. They will rotate from teacher to teacher and be given lessons in the areas of math and art, science, language arts, history, and CTE. Students will also have time to visit museum exhibits on their own and purchase souvenirs from the museum gift shop.
What you will need to wear or bring: Comfortable, modest clothing Comfortable shoes Water bottle Sack lunch (NO microwavable lunches) A writing utensil (pencil or pen) A smile *Money, if you want to purchase items from the gift shopAny students that did not turn in their permission slip, are aware that they will still come to school as a usual day. A Jr High teacher will be here & they will have things to work on.

Utah Compose Job Shadow Assignment
I found this really fun job shadow video that include some helpful tips:
All 7th and 8th grade students need to complete the following essay on Utah Compose. Here are the steps to get started:
Open a browser (aka, get on the internet)
http://utahcompose.com
log in (it’s your SIS student number, with three 000 added in front of the SIS#, for both log in and password, then you can change it)
Go to keyboarding or digital literacy (which ever you currently have)
Press the practice tab and find ‘Job Shadow Experience’
I have uploaded the job shadow reflection form if you would like to use it as a pre-write.
When you begin your writing you are welcome to copy and paste from your reflection form. You may also copy and paste from a word processing program. If you want to finish working on it later click “save & quite.” Otherwise, you can submit your work using the “submit” button.

Thanksgiving Break!
Job Shadow Reflection Due by Dec 5th
All 7th and 8th grade job shadow reflections are due December 5th. Here are the links for the forms:
Student Reflection Form (the same form for 7th & 8th grades) The reflection form will be used as a pre-write for a Utah Compose writing exercise for all students.
Job Shadowing Presentation Rubric (7th grade only) My CTE Intro students have already recieved their job shadow packet. This original packet is worth 30 pts. However, reality dictates that life happens and they will need another copy. However, it will cost them 30 points when they turn in the secondary copy.
Students will also be required to write a thank you letter to their host/hostess. If you would like a copy of the thank you letter format just email me and I will forward that to you.
If, for whatever reason, your student did not job shadow they will need to choose a job or occupation to research. They will still be required to present. If you have any questions about this wonderful opportunity don’t hesitate to email Ms. Emily any time! egoddard@mariamontessoriacademy.org
