It’s that time of year!  Once the weather hits above 70 degrees, the students start to get anxious and excited in anticipation for summer vacation.  I do my best to avoid any conversations of the up coming summer.  We try to keep them focused and working for as long as possible.  It is hard to believe that 6 weeks from today will be the last day of the 2015-2016 school year.  Our calendar will be filling with numerous events over the next several weeks and the disruption in routine, along with their excitement, can be challenging for many students.  We have found that if students are struggling with self control and following directions this time of year, it can be helpful to make a brief call home explaining their choices. We had a wonderful afternoon spending time outside for our cultural lessons this week.  We will be spending more and more time outdoors in the coming weeks.  If you are concerned about your child’s sun exposure, please feel free to send some sunscreen or a hat to wear when outdoors.  Many students no longer have water bottles at school and this would be another great item to have when outside.
