Solar Eclipse and a few reminders

It is sure to be an amazing year when you start the first day with a rare solar eclipse!  We are wanting to take full advantage of this amazing opportunity.  Each student will be given a pair of glasses which will protect their eyes while viewing the eclipse.  PLEASE speak to your child about the safety and importance of not looking at the sun.  I will also be giving this lesson, but would like for it to be a review from what you have already explained.  I would also like for the students to bring a lunch that can be eaten outside on Monday.  Please no warm-up meals.

I also wanted to remind everyone that I am in a new classroom.  We are on the south side of the building, I am concerned a few students will be confused.  We no longer have names above the doors, but our classroom is room 20.  Ms. Kay will be outside holding a pencil shaped sign that says Ms. Brittany.  She will gather with any students who need support finding our new classroom.  She will be in front of the school Monday-Thursday starting at 8:15 a.m.  Please remember that our drop off and pick up are different from previous years.  The following was sent out by our school director in regards to the new traffic flow:

Access the revised MMA Traffic Trifold (http://mariamontessoriacademy.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/17-18-Drop-Off-Map.pdf) through our website by clicking the “Our School” link and then “Our Facility.” If you are headed northbound when exiting the school, please follow the red route and remind your students to stand in the red area for pick-up. If you are headed southbound, please follow the blue route. City officials want to prevent traffic from turning north at Taco Time. We will have crossing guards at critical points to protect student safety and expect drivers to be hyper vigilant as well. We are confident this new procedure will benefit our students and appreciate your cooperation and patience.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.  I am thrilled to see everyone on Monday morning!
