Thank you for a wonderful week!

I want to express how much I enjoyed visiting with each of you this week.  I love your children and appreciate the opportunity to work with them each day.  It is a pleasure to reflect on their growth and celebrate with you, the people who love them the most.

I also want to thank our room mother, Jenney, for all her help with planning our Valentine party.  I appreciate everyone who came to help and all the items that were donated.  We couldn’t have made it happen without you!  Thank you!

Water Bottles and Pants

I wanted to ask, again, for each student to bring a water bottle to class.  I understand how important it is to take care of our basic needs, in order to grow our minds, and I never want to deny a student the need for water, but it is becoming an issue.  Students may fill their water bottles, at the drinking fountain, in the morning and again at lunch or they may choose to fill it in the classroom anytime they need.  Come Monday, I will no longer allow students to leave the classroom to go to the drinking fountain during work time.  If a student does not have a water bottle, they will be invited to use a cup and fill from the classroom sink.  The cups will be reusable, so they will need to wash it once they are done.  Please make certain your child’s name is clearly labeled on their bottle.

I have also noticed pants with holes, especially in the knees.  This is against school dress code and will require a write-up.  I understand how quickly our children grow and how hard they can be on pants.  Please feel free to email me, if you need support in providing pants without holes.

Thank You

Ms. Chelsea and I wanted to thank each of you for your thoughtful gifts and cards.

I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for sharing your children with me each and everyday.  It is a true gift to be apart of their lives and watch them grow and learn.  I want to wish each of you a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.  I will miss your children over the break. (I often catch myself thinking of them and the smiles they paint on my face, as I stand washing dishes on Christmas morning).  I look forward to hearing about their winter break adventures.  See you in the New Year!

Field Trip Rides

Hi,

Just a reminder that you are responsible for arranging rides for your student.  We will leave the school Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. and arrive at the Treehouse by 12:35 p.m.  I have a few more openings with certified drivers.  You can find the sign up here.  Students need to be picked up at the Treehouse at 2:45 p.m.  Chaperones are welcome, but no additional siblings may attend.  This is the policy of the Treehouse museum.  If you have questions, please let me know.

Field Trip Permission Slips

Permission slips were sent home today.  The form is new and  you will need to sign for the next 3 field trips.  Please make certain you initial each field trip you are granting permission.  Here you can sign up for a ride with a certified driver.  If you are not a certified driver and are willing to drive students, please contact our room mother, Jenney, at deepdish88@rocketmail.com .   She will help to arrange rides for students if our certified drivers slots fill.  Please make certain you read the cover letter and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at my school email address.

Certified Drivers and Parent Volunteers

The school will be providing an opportunity to parents to be background checked between 6:30 and 7:30 tomorrow night during Back-to-School Night. Parents who wish to be certified drivers for field trips, or will be volunteering at the school for more than 1 hour a week, will need to be background checked per the schools background check policy (Background Check Policy). There is a LiveScan required payment of $25.00 due at the time of your prints (cash or check). Please make checks payable to Academica West. A picture ID (i.e., driver’s license, state ID card, passport, etc.) is required for the fingerprinting services. A processing fee of $52.75 to Maria Montessori Academy (cash or check) is required in order for fingerprints to be processed. The fee covers the bill from BCI (Bureau Criminal Identification) which is billed directly to the school.

If you wish to be a certified driver, the office will also need to keep a copy of your driver’s license and an up-to-date copy of your auto insurance card on file. You can call the front office for more information or email ahafen@mariamontessoriacademy.org.

If you can’t make it to be background checked during back to school night, there will be an opportunity on October 18th during Parent Teacher Conferences.
