Field Trip Permission Slips

Today your child was sent home with a yellow permission slip.  Only the front page needs to be initialed, signed and returned.  The other copies are for your reference.  I will send the information digitally closer to each field trip date.  Please mark your calendars and be aware of the need for transportation support.  I ask that these be returned by this Thursday, November 9th.  If you have questions, please feel free to email me.

Weekly Reflections

Weekly reflections were sent home today.  Please take a moment to review their reflections and celebrate their accomplishments.  Also, discuss their weekly goal and remember to check in with them over the upcoming week.

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with me!

Home Project/ International Festival

Thank you for all your support with our October home projects.  The students did a fantastic job presenting!  I am always excited to see their research come alive.  Our big home project for the International Festival in now upon us.  We are presenting on the Continent of Australia.  They may choose anything in relationship to Australia: animals, specific animal, cities, landmarks, artwork, the sky is the limit.

Last week, the students learned about the native Aborigines.  They listened to didgeridoo music and created original dot art.  We created a KWL chart.  (What do we Know about Australia?  What do we Want to learn?  What did we Learn?)  Several students have been focusing their  “love of learning” time researching and learning more about cities in Australia.  KWL outlines are a great way to guide your child with their home project research.  It helps them to recognize growth mindset by reflecting on the new information they learned.

This home project needs to be completed on a tri-fold board.  This work will be viewed  within our entire school community.  I would like to encourage their best work by offering additional time in order to complete their project.  Projects are due in class, Thursday, December 14th. The International Festival It is scheduled to take place on December 19th ,20th, and 21st. This event is opened to everyone, so please mark your calendar.  I like to think of the event much like a science fair, but for country studies.

Please see our home project page for additional information.
