Welcome to a new school year!

Dear Parents,

I am looking forward to meeting my new students and welcoming back the returning ones!  If you haven’t yet subscribed to my blog, please do so by clicking on the link on the lower right column that says “subscribe to Ms. Krista’s class by email”.  Once you’ve completed that process you will be emailed whenever I post anything new.  If you ever need to email me directly simply reply to the email.  (I don’t check comments on the blog because I get so much spam).

The school is hosting a pool party at North Shore on Aug. 4 from 7-9 pm.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to be there this time.  I will be away at a family reunion.  However, I hope to see you all at back-to-school night on Aug. 13 from 7-8 pm.  If you are interested in learning more about the Montessori Method please come earlier that night from 6:30-7 pm for the school’s presentation of “Montessori 101”

There will be an orientation for new students and first graders on Friday, Aug. 14 from 1-1:45.  Please check out the school’s blog for more details. (I would highly recommend that you subscribe to that blog as well for school updates and reminders).   The first week of school is Aug. 17-21.  Please note these are all early release days. Students will be dismissed at 1pm.

FYI–Our class supply list is on my blog.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and we’ll see you soon!

Ms. Krista

Class supply list 2015-16

Dear Parents,

For those of you who are hoping to get a head start on school shopping I’ve made a list of classroom supply needs for this coming school year.  I hope you’re enjoying your summer!

Please label the following items with child’s name:

•  6 Composition Notebooks (any color)

•  2 Pentel Mechanical pencils in 0.7 or 0.9 (We have seen all kinds of mechanical pencils come to school. These work the best and last the longest) Please remove packaging and label pencils with child’s name.

•  3 packages matching lead—keep in packaging

•  3 packages matching erasers– keep in packaging

•  1 ruler

•  2 sturdy Plastic Pocket Folders w/prongs (color specified by grade)  1st graders–2 green folders;  2nd graders–2 blue folders3rd graders-2 red folders

•  Small, sturdy, dry-erase lapboard

•  Pencil pouch

• watercolor set–8 color

•  Slippers with sturdy soles.  Can be “Croc” style.  No flip-flops or cartoon characters. Please click on the link for more information and some examples Slipper Doc (1).

•  Refillable Water Bottle

Please do not label these items:

• 1 pkg. Index cards

• 8 black, fine-point, dry-erase markers

•  Regular, non-mechanical pencils 12-pack

• Large package of Crayola Twist-Up Colored Pencils (not the twist-up crayons).

• 2 boxes of Tissues

• “Select-A-Size” Paper Towels – 1 roll

• Hand Sanitizer–1 large bottle

• 1 container Clorox or Lysol wipes

• 1 box Ziploc bags (level 1s—sandwich size; level 2s—quart size: level 3s—gallon size)

In an effort to add to our classroom library this year we are asking for a donation of 2-3 children’s books (new or used) from each student. The books can be fiction or non-fiction. You can find inexpensive books at the D.I. or other thrift stores. This is optional, but I think it will greatly enhance the literary environment of our class.

NOTICE: THE ITEMS ON THIS LIST WILL BE USED DURING THE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY. THEY ARE A MUCH NEEDED DONATION AND ARE  BROUGHT FROM HOME ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS.  THANK YOU!
