Message From Nicoletta

Dear Parents-

It is hard to believe we are at the end of the school year for 2019-2020. We are so grateful to have such wonderful students and parents. We have been especially grateful for all of your support during Distant Learning as we all know this was very much not anticipated!
DISTANT LEARNING SURVEY
Moving forward as this year comes to an end, we are busy planning for the following school year of 2020-2021 and are trying to be as proactive as possible. Please take a few minutes to take this SCHOOL WIDE DISTANT LEARNING SURVEY- so we can use your feedback with Professional Development planning in two weeks. Your voice and your opinion is so valuable to our community and our growth as a school. Please take the survey by next Friday, May 22 by 4:00. Again we will be using this information to help us be more prepared if we do continue Soft Closure another time.
YEARBOOK STATUS
We still do not have a status on when yearbooks will be delivered. COVID-19 put a bump in distribution. If your child ordered a year book, you will receive an email from your lead teacher in regards to how and when they will be distributed. We do apologize.
CLASS LISTS
Class lists for the school year of 2020-2021 will be communicated by the end of July.
Thank you everyone!

Parent Teacher Conferences (blog post)

Dear Parents,

As you are aware this has been a different last quarter of school for all of us. We will be doing parent-teacher conferences on May 19th and 20th. These conferences will be held through zoom. Here is the link to sign up for your 15 minute slot: https://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/xbgwd
Once you have signed up, I will send you a zoom meeting link. The school will also be mailing your child’s progress report around that time.
Looking forward to our visit and hoping everyone is doing well.
Warm regards,
Ms. Krista and Ms. Sharon

Packets for May, and Zoom meeting

Dear parents,

We will be making a final packet for the last three weeks of school.  If you are interested in picking one up please let me know no later than this Sunday evening. The packets will be ready May 1st.
Also, Ms. Sharon and I will be doing a zoom meeting with all the children in our class this Tuesday at 1PM. Please help your child with this if they are interested in participating. We felt it was important for the children to be able to visit with one another and see one another even if it is via technology.  It is only expected to be from approximately 1-1:30pm.
We have truly come to love and enjoy all of your children.  Next year will be our 11th year teaching together and we are so looking forward to it. We have truly enjoyed being able to work with all these children.
With love and gratitude,
Ms. Krista and Ms. Sharon

Updates

Dear  Parents,

We hope we are finding you all well.  Here are a few updates that you will want to know about.

  1. I am attaching a link to a blog that will help give you a guideline on how long your child should be doing their schoolwork each day.  Also, it has other fun suggestions of things they can do.
  2. There will be a virtual field trip tab added to the lowerel blog soon. All your child will need to do is click the link to enjoy a virtual field trip.
  1. The lower el teachers will be sending out a survey to every parent on Monday to get feedback on what has been helpful and any suggestions you may have. This survey will be due Wednesday, April 22.
  1. I have received pictures and updates of what many of the children have been doing. However, there are a few that have not been contacting me with progress being made.  This is a must for us to be able to monitor your child’s progress.  A simple picture of a work chart or a brief email informing me what schoolwork your child has been doing will be sufficient.  Returning packets is not necessary.

Thank you for your support and understanding.  With us working together I know we can help all the children be successful.

Thank you,

Ms. Krista and Ms. Sharon

Checking in

Dear Parents,

We are checking in with everyone to make sure you are all doing well physically and emotionally : )   This has been a very strange and different last couple of weeks for all of us.  Working together like this we know we will get through it great.

There are Heggerty videos made by the teachers now available on the lower el blog: http://blogs.mariamontessoriacademy.org/lowerel/ There is a video for each day of the week.  Please subscribe to the youtube channel to get all the Heggerty videos once they are posted.  Students have been doing these exercises since the beginning of the year and are capable of following the teacher independently.

I’m sure you have heard by now that we have a new director for the upcoming school year.  We are very excited about this.  His name is Mr. Micah.  He is from Hawaii.  We think he is going to be a great fit for our school.  You can learn more about him on MMA’s school blog.

We will be expecting the children to continue working on their online programs which we are monitoring. We are so pleased with all of your efforts in overseeing your child’s progress.  We miss each and every one of them and look forward to seeing them as soon as possible.

With much love and gratitude,

Ms. Krista and Ms. Sharon

School at home

Hello Everyone,

I hope this post finds you well.

During this temporary school closure, the lower-el team has put together some amazing resources for you and your child to help ensure that they can continue learning and progressing as they have been this year. We have created a blog that will have all the digital resources for you to use at home. Please take advantage of this and use it daily. We will also use this blog to update you on any new info and resources we have. The link for the blog is:  http://blogs.mariamontessoriacademy.org/lowerel/. Please register for the blog using the Subscribe to this blog link to the right of the page. During this time of school closure, this will be our main way of communicating.

Take care and stay safe and healthy.

Ms. Krista
