Calendar updates and spelling words

Dec. 4–field trip to the Nutcracker.  Please make sure you turn your waiver forms in no later than Wednesday if you child is planning on attending.  Also, we will be eating lunch around 10am before we leave for the Nutcracker.

Dec. 8–Early release day.  School is dismissed at 1pm.

Dec. 11-15  Africa Projects will be due.  I will send out a schedule the week prior.

Dec. 13  Ms. Krista and Ms. Sharon’s class holiday program at 2pm in the library.  Please come see your child perform some fun songs and poems.

Dec. 19-21  School-wide International Festival.  Schedule and details to come.

Dec. 22-Jan. 2  Winter break.  No school.  School resumes on Jan. 3

International Festival assignments

Dear Parents,

The Annual International Festival is approaching. This is the time of year when each student has the opportunity to present a country from the continent we are studying. This semester we have been learning about Africa

The International Festival is a way to explore other cultures from around the world.    Each student will research and explore their chosen country and find a creative way to share what they have learned with the whole school.  Students will need to have a display of their country.  This can include pictures, artifacts, clothing, music, and food from their country.  During the festival students will have the opportunity to visit each classroom and experience all of the continents and countries throughout the world as they view the presentations prepared by their schoolmates.  Each student is expected to participate in the festival.  All of the children have a specific country to present.   I will provide the list below so you know which country your child needs to research..

Nutcracker field trip Dec. 4

Dear Parents,

We are going on a field trip to see The Nutcracker on Dec. 4.  I am sending home the following information today.  Please sign the form and return as soon as possible if your child is planning on attending the field trip. We are asking for a $3 donation to cover the cost of the ticket.

We will be watching Julie Moffitt’s Ballet performance of The Nutcracker. Students will learn proper theater etiquette and will develop an interest and appreciation for the arts.

What you will do and what you will learn

  • Watch Julie Moffitt’s Ballet performance of The Nutcracker
  • Learn proper theater etiquette
  • Develop an interest and appreciation for the arts
  • Practice learned grace and courtesy in public

 

What you will need to wear or bring

  • Best dress preferred (Does not need to be school uniform)
  • Weather appropriate attire
  • $3 donation would be appreciated to cover the cost of the field trip (please pay prior to the field trip at the online link or at the office.)

Our Schedule

  • We will be taking UTA public transportation to and from the theater.
  • Depart from MMA at 10:40
  • Arrive at Peery Egyptian Theater at 11:30 am
  • Performance begins at 12:00 pm and will end at 1:45 pm
  • Return to MMA by 2:30

Thanksgiving Potluck

Dear Parents,

We have decided to have a Thanksgiving potluck in our class on Wednesday. If you can, please send a potluck item with your child to share with the class. Last week I sent home a folder with your child’s art on it. Their art work can be printed on the items in the folder. They can be given as Christmas gifts or anything else you would like to have with your child’s art on it. All orders must be placed no later than November 13th. All the proceeds from the art will be donated to our classroom.
