A Message From Our Reading Specalists

Tracking/One-to-one word correspondence

When a child is reading it is important for him/her to have one-to-one word correspondence.  This means that as they read each word, they can touch it and identify it as the word they are reading.

The student should track their finger along word to word as they read or listen to a story.

Some other manipulatives to use besides the child’s finger are a pencil eraser, fake finger, magic wand etc.

While your child reads to you or independently, check to make sure they are tracking with one-to-one correspondence.

March Home Projects 03.26.18

This is a friendly reminder that our March Home Projects for South America will be due on Monday, March 26th, 2018. This home project can be on anything of interest to your student from South America such as a specific country, historical or geographical landmark, indigenous peoples, cultural aspects, food, clothing, animals, etc. A visual aid (poster, art project, Lego construction) is required for this project.

We will combine our home project with a parent presentation. The students are scheduled to present their home projects in the South Kiva on Thursday, March 29th, 2018 at 1:30pm. We hope to see you there!
