A Message From MAPA

This is a message from Angela, our MAPA president:
Hi Parents,

Thank you so much to everyone who has already signed up to help at Fall Festival! October is a pretty busy month as far as MAPA and volunteering go so we need help from so many. If you haven’t had a chance to sign up yet there is still time. We need several more volunteers to keep all of the activities open. This year MAPA will be implementing the “no volunteer, no activity” moto again. This means that any time we have a volunteer need and no one has signed up that activity will be closed for the time slot.

Not only do we have Fall Festival this month we also have Parent Teacher Conference dinners and Book Fair October 15-17th.

Please, please follow the link and sign up where you are able. Please note there are multiple signups for all events on the calendar. If one is full please click on the next signup sheet. If you have any questions you can email MAPA at mapa@mariamontessoriacademy.org.

Fall Festival Reminder

Please see this important message from our room mom.

Just a reminder Fall Festival is less than two weeks away!  We are still looking for donations and volunteers!  Below is the original email that was sent out with all the information.
Our booth this year is crazy easy!  We are offering temporary hair color!  This involves the spray in hair color and stencils for a fun rockin’ new style at the festival!
If you would like to volunteer to help run the booth, I promise you it will be easy.  Let me know if you would like to do a thirty minute shift or a full hour.  We absolutely want you to come and have fun with your families so I am not asking anyone to come run the booth all night, unless you feel you absolutely want to.
As for donations we are asking for the spray in hair color cans–as many as we can lay hands on.  Walmart has them right now in their Halloween section, and I think Target has some at their store as well (Zurchers also carries a variety of spray hair color).  Donations can be turned into Ms. Amity’s room until Friday October 12th at 2pm.
Thanks everyone!

Fall Festival Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteering during our annual Fall Festival is a fun, easy way to earn hours toward your 40 hours of required volunteer time.

Please see this message from our room mom, Natalie.

With fall festival being less than a month away (Friday October 12th) I was hoping to start getting organized and get the word out about donations and volunteer opportunities!

Week 5 – Field Trip Update

Good evening.

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend.  I was able to hike Skull Crack Trail at Causey Reservoir to watch the Kokanee Salmon run.  What a beautiful experience!   They will still be running for the next several days, so if you have the opportunity to take your family for an evening hike this week, I highly recommend this.

The first field trip of the year is this Friday, September 21.  We are still in need of rides for 10 students.  If we do not have the carpool arrangements worked out by Tuesday evening, our class will not be able to attend this trip.  I understand several parents have volunteered as drivers and chaperones, but we are still in need of more.  Please contact Natalie, our room mom, as soon as possible if you are able to volunteer your time this week.

Tomorrow we begin our Botany lessons with Ms. Rachael.  Rachael is a dear friend of mine, and an amazing Botanist. We are extremely lucky to have her as an instructor in our school.  Her knowledge of, and excitement for, Botany is unmatched!  Please be sure you ask your child what they learned from Ms. Rachael. The more often they share their learning, the more “sticky” it becomes.

Wednesday, our 4th grade students will attend an assembly with Dan “The Weatherman” Guthrie.  During this presentation, they will learn about meteorology.

Finally, we will be utilizing Imagine Learning as the platform to practice math outside the classroom.  This program is new to Upper Elementary this year and will replace IXL.  We will login to Imagine Learning for the first time Thursday during class.  After this, your child will be able to access this program from home.   More details about utilizing this resource to complete homework assignments will be provided within the next couple of weeks.

Have a wonderful week!

JA Biztown Chaperone/Volunteer

Happy Tuesday!

Our annual 5th grade field trip to JA Biztown is Wednesday, March 14 and our class needs two chaperones who are also able to transport our group of ten 5th grade students to Discovery Gateway.

I have heard from several parents who are interested in volunteering; however, only parents who are able to drive multiple children, will be able to join us for this trip.  If you are the parent of a 5th grade student AND you would like to volunteer your time, as well as drive a group of students, please contact me ASAP.

Note: It is the policy of JA City to not place parents with their own children in a business.  You will have an opportunity to interact with your child during their break time, but will not be directly placed with them in their business.

There is a $5.00 fee for this field trip.  Your child can bring money to the office, or you can make your payment here.

We also have a smaller walking field trip to America First Credit Union, Wednesday, March 7.

Permission slips for both trips will be coming home with your child today.
