February 15 and 16

On the 15th and 16th students will either be at the Ogden Nordic Center or at the school. Activities involved each day are below;

School

On the day that students are at the school we will be discussing next years registration process, working on portfolios to share during the Open House and working on Science Fair (8th graders on February 21st) and History Fair (7th graders on February 28th) .

Students should bring portfolio supplies, and if they’re ready to put together their display boards, they are welcome to bring those as well. 7th and 8th grade students will bring home registration materials and these should be returned by Friday February 23rd.

Ogden Nordic Center

Students will be learning about the geography of the Wasatch mountain range, writing poetry, learning about watershed, climate change, and participating in team building activities centered on virtues.

Students should meet at Ogden Nordic Center at 9am and be picked up by 12:30. (http://www.ogdennordic.com/north-fork-park/getting-there)

Students should bring:

Warm clothing

coat

gloves and hat

hiking shoes

Sack lunch and snack in backpack

Notebook and pencils/pens

Portfolio Supplies

All students will be working on their portfolios next week. Students must have a 2 or 3″ binder and 8 tab dividers.

Page protectors are optional but not required.

 

Please help your student be prepared to work on their portfolio by assuring they have these materials. Portfolios will be presented during the Parent/Teacher/Student Open House on February 21st and 22nd.

Ogden Nordic Center Field Experience Feb. 15 & 16

Hello!

 

Despite the terrible snow year we are still planning on our field experience to Ogden Nordic Center next Thursday and Friday. Instead of snowshoeing and cross country skiing, students will participate in science lessons, hiking and other outdoor activities with Ms. Michelle and Ms. Nicoletta. We are still looking for a couple of parent chaperones and drivers.

You Student will be participating in a field experience at the Ogden Nordic Center in Liberty, Utah on February 15th or 16th. Permission slips will come home next week.

February 21st and 22nd- Parent, Teacher, Student Open House

Families,

 

Our teachers will be visiting Clark Montessori school in Cincinnati, Ohio during the regularly scheduled February parent teacher conferences. Because of this, we have rescheduled conferences for February 21st & February 22nd from 3:30-7:00 each day.

 

This will be an Open House style where students will be able to show their portfolios and you can meet one-on-one with the teachers if you would like. In the event that this does not work for you please reach out to the teachers and they will accommodate your schedule.

 

We’re excited to see you and we know your students are excited to share their progress with you.

Gala Basket – Mindfulness

The Junior high is putting together a “Mindfulness Basket” for the Gala in March. We are looking for donations for the basket.

 

If you could provide something for the basket it would be fantastic! All money earned at the Gala goes directly back into the school. Donating items also counts towards your 40 hours of service! Please deliver items to the Yurtable by March 10th.

Junior High Information Night Presentation

JRH parent-student orientation

 

Some highlights to take note of:

 

  • 4 of our teachers hold graduate degrees and 4 others are working towards their graduate degree!
  • Our teachers are specialists in their content areas. They really get students excited about learning!
  • Adolescents need movement, engaging curriculum, understanding and knowledgeable adults and a chance to feel like part of something.
  • Adolescents need to be able to take their learning out into the real world, field experiences, environmental education and service learning are all things they will participate in at MMA.

 

Don’t forget! Your intent to return is due January 19th!

Registration will take place in February!

Parent Help Needed

We are looking for a few parents to help us with some of our awesome programs and activities. Please email Ms. Kacee if you can be of help. 9th Grade Dance Parent Organizer – This parent will help the 9th grade social committee to plan and facilitate the 9th grade dance at the end of the year.

 

 

HOPE Squad Co-Leader – This parent will help organize and attend the Friday afternoon HOPE squad meetings and work with Ms. Andrea to keep this important program running.

 

 

Field Experience Carpool Coordinator for the upcoming trip to the Ogden Nordic Center February 15th and 16th. – This parent will help organize carpools for students to travel to and from Liberty, Utah for a day of snowshoeing, cross country skiing and fresh mountain air.
