New Year & New Beginnings!

e2114d73d96cb352949ccd20b7f6e0a9--happy-new-year-everyone-happy-new-year-

Hello MMA Junior High Students and Families!

We hope you’ve had a fantastic summer and are as excited for the new school year to start as we are! There are lots of BIG things happening this year and we are eager to begin!

Seven of our teachers, Ms. Leigh, Ms. Kat, Mr. Adrian, Mr. Dave, Ms. Andria, Ms. Shilo and Mr. Casey spent 5 intensive weeks in classes with the Cincinnati Montessori Secondary Teacher Education Program, in Ohio, and are excited to share their learning with the students of Maria Montessori Academy.

We are welcoming our new Science teacher Ms. Michelle, our new College and Career Awareness/Business Marketing/Keyboarding teacher Mr. Travis, our new Social Studies/Geography teacher, Mr. Adrian, our new German teacher, Ms. BreAnn and our new Music/Theater/Dance teacher, Ms. Sarah to the team. We know you’ll love each one of them and that you’ll love the new ideas they bring to the community.

We are welcoming a new Director, Ms. Rene, and Ms. Kacee is moving (literally her office space moved into the Yurtable and she’ll be the main administrator in the junior high) into a new position as well.

We will begin construction on the new building in September and hope to be moved in before the year ends. This is a BIG DEAL and much anticipated! The new building will have a full-size gym, 11 airy classroom spaces, a stage, locker rooms, and more!

This will be our biggest student body yet, with 130, 7th, 8th and 9th graders! 15 of those are brand new to Maria Montessori Academy. WELCOME!

We’re starting an official Student Council Class, a HOPE Squad, and last but certainly not least we’re getting a new chicken coop, and several new chickens will be joining our flock!

Things are definitely happening here!

Schedules and school supply lists will be mailed out by the 11th! So keep watch on this blog and your mailboxes!

Be sure to subscribe to this main junior high blog (bottom of the home page) as well as each teacher’s blog so you will be able to stay up to date with the many happenings of MMA. If you have questions (which we hope you will!) please never hesitate to contact the teachers or Ms. Kacee.

Following us on FacebookInstagram and Twitter are also great ways to stay up to date with the ongoings of the school community.

The pool party on the 15th at 7pm will be a great time for you to meet the new teachers and connect with friends you may not have seen all summer!

New student orientation will be on August 18th from 10am-11am, here we will officially welcome the new 7th graders and new-to-the-school 8th and 9th graders.

Our first day back will be spent observing the once in a lifetime solar eclipse in our new Advisory Houses!

Our first field experience will happen August 30 and 31st at the Weber State low ropes course. More information will be coming, but be sure to save the dates!

See you soon!
