Hi students and families!

We’re just a day away from our first field experience of the 2017-2018 school year! If you need to find your student a ride please sign up for a carpool HERE. 

Students are expected to return to school after the challenge course; they will participate in a debriefing activity for their Math assignment, along with the story and an activity about the life and legacy of Maria Montessori.

(Maria Montessori was born on August 31st, 1870! Happy 147th Birthday Maria!)

On the opposite day, Advisory houses will be engaging in activities around the Montessori Great Lessons, team building, and learning about Stephen Covey’s 7 habits at the school.

Students not attending the challenge course will need to check in with Ms. Kacee to receive an alternate assignment. Field experiences are an essential part of our program and we’re excited to be able to kick the year off with such an incredible activity.

Opportunity Outside the Classroom – Ropes Challenge Course

We are looking for some donations to make our lessons come to life this week, If you can supply any of the following please send it on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Salt (we are making salt dough-so we need a lot!)

Flour (we are making salt dough-so we need a lot!)

We also need some things to help fill our shared kitchen. If you’ve been meaning to go through your mismatched dishes and silverware we’ll take them!

Plates/cups/bowls (reusable please)

forks & spoons

Don’t forget to put your pizza Friday orders in.

The Jr High will be going to the WSU Challenge Course on August 30^th & 31^st  from  9:00am – 12:15pm. They will be participating in team building exercises and completing a challenge course.

We will not have certified drivers for this field experience. The school encourages parental collaboration to get students to and from this event. If you cannot secure a ride with another driver, you are responsible for transportation arrangements.

We are currently looking for Certified Drivers for the 2017-2018 school year. It’s a great way to help our students and complete your volunteer hours. If you are interested in becoming a Certified Driver please complete the Driving Procedure Form, have a MMA background check and provide a Copy of your Drivers License and Auto Insurance. Junior High New Student Orientation

7^th graders and all new 8^th and 9^th graders

Friday August 18^th

10am-11am

Tour the Junior High campus, learn about the bell schedule, and meet the teachers and other new-to-MMA-Junior-High-students.

Parents should drop off their students at the south gate and are welcome to pick students up on the boardwalk at 11. Teachers will be available to answer questions and classrooms will be open to tour at that time.

We can’t wait to meet you! See you soon!

Cross Country Team tryouts will be Monday August 21 immediately after school. There will be a parent meeting, Thursday August 24, at 6:30 pm. The cost is $75. Registration forms are available in the front office. Contact Autumn Douglas (adouglas@mariamontessoriacademy.org) with questions.
