Hello!
Just a reminder that Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week are Parent Teacher Conferences. If you haven’t signed up for a time yet, please do so at this link: http://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/cazxd. Due to the conferences, school will be out at 1:00 PM all three of those days.
There is no school on Thursday and Friday. Enjoy your long weekend!
I also wanted to tell you that the book reports turned out fantastic! Thank you so much for the hard work that you and your children put into them. I am still waiting on a handful of them to be turned in. I’ll be looking for those on Monday.
Kirsten
I have been so bad about remembering to post the spelling words on the blog. Sorry! I will try hard to remember in the future. In all fairness, though, I tell the students to write their spelling words in their planners on Fridays and bring them home. Maybe if we both remind them, that will help. We typically get a new list on Fridays and test on Thursdays. Here are the words for this week:
Green: fin, sit, spin, trip, lift, gift, milk, swim, think, blink
Orange: ambition, auction, coast, current, frail, intelligent, novel, resident, starve, volunteer
Yellow: abundant, arid, distinct, graze, hectic, horde, humid, incredible, inhabit, peninsula, rural, sanctuary, splendor, squalor
Red: anonymous, anthology, conjecture, disposition, encompass, extricate, generation, guile, imperative, instill, modify, pivot, prevalent, recur, spontaneous
Hi there!
Our class is planning a field trip to Peery’s Egyptian Theater in Ogden on Monday, December 8th to see the Nutcracker ballet. I am looking for certified drivers who would be able to help transport students to and from the theater. We will be leaving the school around 11:15 AM and returning at about 2:15 PM. Drivers would be welcome to stay and watch the show. If you can help us with this field trip, will you please let me know? If we don’t have enough drivers, I will need to try to make other travel arrangements.
Thanks!
Kirsten

Keep in mind that all 3 of these days are early out days and school will get out at 1:00 PM.
See you soon!
Kirsten
Here is the template I would like the students to use for their book reports. If you are not able to print the file, or you have difficulty downloading it, let me know and I will print one for you. If you do not have a file folder to use, I will send one home on Monday. Remember, the book reports are now due on October 10th!
Thanks so much!
Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about the science fair! I sent home a paper today that your child should have given to you about choosing their science fair topic. This will be due in one week, on September 30th. We talked in class about what makes a good science fair topic. It should be a question that can be answered through fair experiments. www.sciencebuddies.org is an excellent resource and I highly recommend using it throughout the science fair process. Let me know if you have any questions!
Here are this week’s spelling words. I have the students in groups by color. I forgot the green list at school (sorry!), so I will have to send that one out tomorrow. Your child should know which color is theirs. I give out new lists on Fridays and test on Thursdays. Sorry for the delay in sending them home this week. Since this is the first week we have done spelling, expect your student to move lists in the coming weeks as I get a better idea of their abilities.
Orange List: cylinder, examine, fatal, feature, grasp, jet, marine, scar, tentacle, vessel
Yellow List: affection, appeal, clasp, conspicuous, contribute, declare, eloquent, exhibit, ferry, immigrant, lofty, pedestal, persecute, poverty, unveil
Blue List: avid, brusque, concise, demean, despicable, emulate, evoke, excruciating, inaugurate, pervade, proprietor, pseudonym, rebuff, resilient, turbulent
This Wednesday, the school will be having its first ever Box Tops Store! The children can bring in Box Tops and use them to “buy” lots of neat things. Please help support this venture by sending your cut Box Tops to school on Wednesday!
Thanks for all you do!
