Back to School Night Reminder

Dear Parents,

I wanted to remind everyone about back to school night this Thursday, September 4th from 6:30-7:30.  This is for parents only.  We will be having an informal open house where you can come see your child’s classroom and meet Ms. Kylee and I. Sign-up sheets will be available for anyone who would like to volunteer to help out with our class field trips, reading, educational presentations, etc.

Parent Orientation Night

Parent Orientation will be Thursday, September 4th from 6:30-7:30. You may have other students in the school, so, come anytime in this hour to meet Ms. Kylee and I.

During this time they will have Academic West available to get your background check and fingerprinting. This would allow you to be a certified driver for field trips. If you are interested, please do this to help our class with transportation.

Parent Volunteer Hours

School Supply List 2014-2015

Dear Families,

For those of you watching for back-to-school sales I am sending out my student supply list.  I hope you are all having a wonderful summer!!

Please label the following items with child’s name:

Crayola Twist-Up Colored Pencils (not the twist-up crayons)–large package
Lunch Box
Refillable Water Bottle
6  Composition Notebooks (New students only)
2 Pentel Mechanical pencils (Target and Wal-Mart have their own brand of Pentel pencils-they are either blue or black)..05 Lead–3 packages
We will not use the eraser on mechanical pencils to make it easier for refilling the lead – Please provide erasers of any sort for your childs’ use
Binder pencil pouch (3 holes)
Slippers with sturdy soles.  Can be “Croc” style.  No flip-flops or cartoon characters.
 
These items are requested for donations:

Kleenex – 1 box
“Select-A-Size” Paper Towels – 1 roll
Crayola washable watercolor set–8 color
Hand Sanitizer
Gallon, quart, and sandwich size zip lock baggies
bag of cotton for sewing projects
fabric, needles, thread, yarn, any sewing tools
art supplies
building blocks, legos, tangrams etc.

In an effort to add to our classroom library this year we are asking for a donation of 2-3 children’s books (new or used) from each student. The books can be fiction or non-fiction. You can find inexpensive books at the D.I. or other thrift stores. This is optional, but I think it will greatly enhance the literary environment of our class.

“NOTICE: THE ITEMS ON THIS LIST WILL BE USED DURING THE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY. THEY MAY BE BROUGHT FROM HOME ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS. OTHERWISE, THEY WILL BE FURNISHED BY THE SCHOOL.”

MMA T-Shirt Design Contest

All MMA students are welcome to submit their design.

Rules:

•Original design (by the student).
•Drawn or computer designed on 8.5×11 white paper.
•Use Black ink or marker. The design can only have up to two colors (please do not use pencil for the design).
•Designs with mistakes will not be corrected by the committee and will be disqualified.
•Each student may enter ONE design.
•Please make sure your design is school appropriate.
•A panel of parents and teachers will choose a number of entries for display.
•During Parent/Teacher conference, students and parents can vote for the design they like the best.
•The design with the most votes will be the MMA 2014 design. The new MMA t-shirt will be announced at the MMA Pool Party. At that time, the t-shirts will be available for purchase.
