Literacy Week March 11-15

Next week we are celebrating Literacy Week. We have some fun plans for the students to engage in and get excited about reading. Students can bring a drawing or print of their favorite book cover. We will hang them around the school. We will have tables set up for a book swap. Have your child bring in books to exchange for a new one.

Literacy Night is on Tuesday, March 12th from 5:30-7:00 pm. You can dress up as your favorite character. We will have many activities and a raffle will be going on throughout the night. Usborne books will be available for purchase. This is a great time to celebrate literacy with the family.

We will have a school wide read-a-thon on Friday, March 15th from 10:00-11:00 am. Have your children bring books they would like to read and share with the class. Please no blankets or pillows.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Interdependence Home Project February-April

Hello Parents,

Our last home project of the year is on creative writing. This assignment can be based on something that happened to them, or someone they know, or from their imagination. They can choose to write a poem, a song, a play, or a story. This project can be simple or complex depending on your child’s ability and interest. We would like this to be a fun and creative experience for your child. This project must also include an illustration(s) to accompany their writing. This can be from a variety of things- drawing, painting, clay, puppet, mobile, booklet, shadow box, etc.

Union Station Field Trip

We are excited to go on our field trip Monday, March 4th to the Union Station. We will be leaving the school at 12:30 pm and return to the school around 2:45 pm.

We are so grateful for our chaperones that will transport us to our field trip. I have assigned every child with a driver, unless you have indicated you are taking your child.

We will eat lunch at the school before we leave. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for all your support!
