Classsroom Feast

Hello Parents,

Our annual feast is Wednesday, November 18th. This has been a tradition in our classroom for the kids to have a soup & bread celebration. Our wonderful room mother will be making bread with the children before we start the feast. Below you will find a wejoinin to help donate items. Please let me know if you are interested in helping with a craft and game.

New Class Pet

Hello Parents,

We are excited to inform you that we have a class pet. Our assistant, Mr. Dharma brought his bunny to share with us. It has been very exciting for the children, since they never had the chance to have the rats in our class.

Along with this, we are in need of donations for hay and food. We will have a donation can in the classroom to fill. Please send in any money you can for your child to put in the donation can. Make sure the money is in an envelope with the child’s name it. We would greatly appreciate it.

Love,

The Classroom Family

Celebration of Life Sign-up

Please sign your child up if you are interested in having a celebration of life. Choose a month and type in your child’s name and the day you would like to have it. If your child’s birthday lands on a day we don’t have school or a summer birthday, choose the month and day that best fits your schedule.

You will need pictures of your child from birth to present and share something special about each year of your child. We always have the celebration at 2:00 p.m.; unless another time is more appropriate.

Original Art Work

What is Original Works? For 26 years, this company has been coordinating with schools to turn children’s art into keepsakes. You can choose from one or more of the following: key chains, magnets, mirrors, coasters, notebooks, tiles, mugs, tote bags, water bottles, cell phone covers, night lights, T-shirts, quilt block, mouse pads, note cards, pillowcases, journals, pot holders, matted prints, and decorative flags.
Who benefits from this fundraiser? When you order, the profit goes directly to your child’s classroom!
What should I do if my child completed more than one piece of art? Each piece of art needs its own order form. If you want to order multiple pieces of art, please get additional order forms from Rachael Bush.
What should my child do with their completed packets? Return the art, order form, and check payable to MMA to the school. There will be a table at the entrance ready for your orders. PLEASE do NOT give money and order forms to teachers.
We ONLY accept checks! Please make them out to MMA and include them with your completed order form.
When are order forms due? By October 26th. Look for the Original Works table in the school’s entrance!
When will orders arrive? Original Works art keepsake(s) will be sent home on December 2nd.
What if my child didn’t finish their art at school? Your child can complete, add to, or even replace their art at home. Use 8½ x 11″ plain paper and color or paint. Please no glitter, pipe cleaners, googley eyes, or anything else that makes the art 3-D.
What if parents don’t want to order? You keep your child’s art!
If you have additional questions, please contact rachael.bush@gmail.com

Cereal Box Book Report

Hello Parents!

Now that we have access the thousands of digital books on the new Myon.com, I would like each child to finish a book report next month. Of course, your child can use an actual book too. This will be due Monday, November 16th, 2015.

The students will decorate a cereal box with the illustrations and information related to the book they read using the directions below:

Front of box: use a piece of paper to cover the front of the cereal box. Use this page for the title of the book. Invent a name for the cereal that is related to the title of the book and sounds like cereal. Do not use the exact title of the book. Draw a picture what the cereal would look like that relates to the book. For example, for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, you might invent a cereal called Wizard Wands, a toasted oat cereal in the shape of miniature lighting bolts.

Right side: Make a list of ingredients that include the story elements characters and setting. I will provide a template for this.

Left side: Write a summary that describes the book.

Back of Box: Design a game that is based on the book. It can be a puzzle, a word search, a word scramble, a maze, a crossword puzzle, a hidden picture illustration, or any other fun activity that might be found on the back of a cereal box. Make sure it includes information from the book.

Top of Box: Include the title, author, number of pages, and number of stars you would give this book if you were a book critic. Also, include your name. The maximum number of stars would be 5. I will have a template for this if you desire to use it.

I will send home information on Monday with the cereal box book report templates.
