Family Picnic

Dear Families,

We are excited to invite you all to a family luncheon that the school is hosting this coming Thursday, August 22, from 12 o’clock noon to 1:00 pm. We would love for you to come and enjoy lunch with our class and then participate in some getting-to-know-you activities.  We are eager to get acquainted with those of you that are new to our school and class and to visit with those of you we haven’t seen since last school year.  Please make sure your child has a sack lunch that does not need to be heated up and bring one for yourself as well as a blanket if you would like.  We hope to see you all there.

Carpool Tips

I have crosswalk duty after school and will not be able to watch your child. I would highly recommend finding a designated area that you and your child plan on meeting at for your pick-up routine.
As you are dropping off and picking up your children, please use your best grace and courtesy. Remember, we all love our children and want them to be safe so stay off your cell phone and stay alert. Please take a look at this map to familiarize yourself with where to go. MMA Carpool 19-20 (1)

A few other helpful things to remember to help you while you are dropping off or picking up are
1. please pull forward. If there is space in front of you, pull forward.
2.Pay attention at all times, children will step out in front of you.
3.PLEASE STAY OFF YOUR PHONE. It is not wise to be on your phone while you are driving and especially in a parking lot of over 400 children.
4.Please do as directed by the teachers who are directing traffic.
5. Please stay in your car if you are using the pickup lanes.
6.Use the crosswalk, model this behavior for the children.
7.Ask for help if you need it.
8.Finally, please be patient. We are all new to this traffic pattern and it will all work out if with work together.

Cupcake Parent Celebration

Dear Parents,

We are excited to invite you to our cupcake parent celebration. We apologize for the last minute invitation. We understand if you can not attend. We will record it for those that won’t be able to make it. It will be Monday, May 20th at 9:30 am in the J.H. gym.

We will perform songs we’ve been practicing this year. Over the past couple of months, we focused our Fridays on growth mindset lessons and learning tools/strategies to help cope with life’s unpredictabilities. These were called cope-cakes. We will have actual cupcakes to celebrate. Each student will share an “I am” statement with you.

Come enjoy songs, uplifting statements, and cupcakes with us!

kindly,

Ms. Holly & Ms. Sara

3rd Grade Common Core State Testing

Dear Parents,

Our 3rd grade students will be taking the common core state test on Monday, May 6th for math and Wednesday, May 8th for language arts. The 1st and 2nd grade students will not be testing and will be doing their regular classroom work cycle on these days.

The tests are in the afternoon from 12-3. If they happen to be absent for any reason there will be makeup days. They are able to bring a snack if they would like but no gum or drinks. I will have them bring their water bottle with them while testing.

It is really important to make sure they get adequate sleep the night before the test. If they don’t bring a snack, I will provide it for them.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you, Ms. Holly
