Reading Fundraiser

Hello Parents,

Sorry for the confusion with the reading fundraiser, but at this point, we will not be raising money for this fundraiser. When Mr. Dharma presented this to the children, they were so excited to be able to read and make money to donate to help struggling communities, but we will not be collecting any money. I’m still encouraging the children to keep reading at least 20 minutes every night.

Thank you,

Ms. Holly

Donations for Gala Basket

Hello parents, As a room parent I have been asked by the gala committee to put together a basket for the silent auction, involving parents of each class.  If you are involved with a personal business or have community contacts that would be interested in donating gift certificates or merchandise please ask.  Be creative!!!  The class that has the highest bid for their basket will win a pizza party.  I will attach the tax id number letter for tax write offs. Contact me so I can meet you before or after school to pick up items. Or you can leave with the front office if you tell them it is for Ms. Holly’s class auction basket.  Just call or text me so that I know.  The Gala is March 18th so we will need donated items by the 15th. Thanks for your continued support!!! Jen Noyes (Miss Holly’s room mom) 801-791-1292

Websites for Level Books

1. Good websites to help level books:

http://www.arbookfind.com/default.aspx Just type in the exact title and you should get a visual of the book and some info, including a fairly accurate reading level for the book.  Often, books will list a “reading level” but it may not be accurate.

http://www.scholastic.com/bookwizard/ This is the scholastic book leveler.

2. Here are some sites to find leveled reading passages to practice fluency or to give you some info about reading fluency.

Valentines

Students may choose to share Valentines with their classmates on Thursday, February 11th.  We currently have 30 students in our class. They can bring something to put their Valentines in or we have plastic bags available in the classroom they can use.

Science Fair Volunteers Needed

We are in need of volunteers for the Science Fair in several different positions. Normally we source judges from the community to avoid any conflicts of interests, however, we have used some very successfully in the past and will likely need to this year.

This would be a great opportunity for a lower el parent to get a chance to see the fair their child will be participating in next year :}

Any potential volunteers need to contact me so I can place them in the position that best suits their interests and our needs.

Here is a little more info about the positions needed.

 Tue 16th

Set up – from 3:00 to about 4:30

Wed 17th Elementary Fair (4-5th)
