Did you know the Gala’s in the past have made the school money so they could purchase computers, bike rack, P.E. equipment, crosswalk flashing lights, etc…? This year the school is in need of a new playground and we are hoping to get enough money to make a big difference in the playground bill. In comes the GALA:) Our ticket sales for the Gala so far are looking a little sad. We are asking MMA parents to step up and come support MMA. Please make sure your child brings back the field trip permission slips to school by Tuesday, March 13th. Thank you!

On Thursday, March 15th we are having a field trip to the North View Fire Department. We will walk across the road from Maria Montessori Academy at 9:45 am  to the fire department and return at 11:15 am. During our visit we will learn about the job of a fire fighter. We will tour the building and learn about the fire truck. Currently there is rain in the forecast. Make sure the day of the field trip to check the weather to have your child dress in appropriate clothing to stay happy and healthy. Good walking shoes are very helpful for your child’s comfort. It is not very far, as it is directly across the street, but it is still a good walk for our students.

I will send home a permission slip with your child today. Please make sure to read the consent form and sign and initial where it tells you to. Your child is only able to go with your parental permission. Thank you!

This month our home project is a book report. It can be any book that they have read to report on. They will need a visual aide (the actual book does not count) and written work. For there visual aide they can represent a character, setting, or plot with clay, mobiles, diorama, drawings etc. They can be as creative as they would like.

We will be having a read-a-thon on Friday, March 2nd at 2:00-2:45. Your child can bring a blanket, books, and a treat. Make sure whatever your child brings, it will fit in their locker please.

Maria Montessori Academy’s 4th Annual Literacy Night

When: Thursday, March 1st, 2018

Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Where: Maria Montessori Academy

Come and enjoy an enchanting night with your family. There will be door prizes, story time, trivia, map making, wand making, karaoke, participlay, grammar madlibs, literacy games, watercolor bookmarks, and sightword twister.

We will be passing out valentines cards on Wednesday, February 14th. If your child would like to participate, please have them bring in a box or bag (they can decorate it if they choose) and valentines cards to pass out to their classmates on this day. We have 30 students. I’m not going to send out names of all the students, because that can become cumbersome when we have to wait for every student to find each name to pass out to. I understand that some of the students would like to write the name on a few cards that are their close friends, and that is acceptable, as that will not contribute to the length of time it takes to pass out to each student.

Our February home project is on a U.S. president. Students will pick a president to present on. I will be talking more about presidents this week to help them make a choice. They will need a visual aid and written work, and are prepared to present to the class. Let me know if I can help.
