Hill Aerospace Museum Field Trip

We will meet the chaperone drivers at 11:20 am at North Shore parking lot Thursday, November 29th. We plan to leave the school at 11:30 am. The students are eating lunch before we leave and a parent is bringing a snack for the students for later. Make sure your child has a coat and good walking shoes. We will return to the school around 2:30 pm.

Ogden Electric Lights Parade

November 24th is the annual Ogden Electric Lights Parade. Our school will be represented and the marketing committee has come up with a float that will represent MMA.

We are looking for students from MMA who would like to be part of our parade! The meeting place will be in front of the Ogden Temple. The parade starts promptly at 5:30pm. The floats will be lined up at 5pm.

Students 12 years and you get must ride in the trailer or truck. If you are over the age of 12 then you may walk next to the float. Students who ride or walk will be carrying white peace signs or holding tea lights.

If your child would like to be a part of the parade then we will have waivers to sign in front of the temple.

The parade starts on 22nd and Washington and then ends at 27th. My advice would be for our MMA parents whose child(ren) are in the parade park towards the end of the parade so when we are done you can find your child.

We have some, but if your child would like to wear glow necklaces and bracelets during the parade we highly suggest the more the better! (It is a light parade!) the glow wear is also our symbol to honor Troy and Molly Cox.

If you have any questions you can ask Autumn in the office or me- Ms. Kaley. I will do my best to answer anything I know 🙂

Field Trip to the Hill Aerospace Museum

We will be going on a field trip on Thursday, November 29th to the Hill Aerospace Museum. We will leave the school at 11:30 am and return to the school by 2:15 pm.

We will eat lunch before we go. I will bring a snack for the students for later, since we will eat earlier than usual. Please make sure your child has good walking shoes and a warm jacket. We will be inside most of the time, but there are artifacts outside we may be touring.

Please contact me if you are willing to be a driver for our field trip at hgladwell@mariamontessoriacdemy.org

Thank you!

Home Project

Hello Families,

I want to clear any confusion on what your child can do for their home project. It is anything about US history. They can do it about inventors, architecture, historical events, basically, any decade of events, people, or happenings. There are many choices to choose from. In class we have been learning about the revolutionary period, but the students are not limited to that for their projects.

Let me know if you have questions.

Ms. Holly

US History Home Projects

Hello Parents,

The cultural festival will be held Friday, November 16th from 1-3pm. Your child can bring their project in when it is done, but must be to the school by Friday, to be ready for the school wide festival. The project theme is US history i.e. constitution, bill of rights, declaration of independence, 13 colonies, statue of liberty, liberty bell, Washington DC, Native Americans, etc.

Let me know if you have questions.

Ms. Holly

Gary Hogg is coming November 9th

We are excited to announce an author visiting our school. Gary Hogg has a dynamite personality and gets the children really excited about writing. He will be at the school on Friday, November 9th. I sent home a yellow order form if your child would like to purchase his books. His books are humorous and entertaining. You will need to have the order form and a check to the school by Friday. Gary Hogg will sign all the books ordered.

Have a wonderful day!

Dia De Los Muertos

We are going to celebrate the Day of the Dead on Thursday, November 1st. The Day of the Dead is an important Mexican holiday that celebrates and honors deceased loved ones. In Mexico, the celebration is held from October 31 to November 2nd, coinciding with the Catholic feast days of All Saints and All Souls, but the festival’s origins are rooted in a unique combination of elements drawn from indigenous beliefs and Catholic teachings.

We are going to make and decorate sugar skulls. I have a sign up sheet below for you to help donate ingredients for this event. We will be making tissue paper flowers as well. We have supplies for the flowers. We will need the ingredients by Friday so we can make the sugar skulls before next Thursday. Thank you!

Home Project Independence Oct. 9th- Nov. 16th

The next home project is on US history. This will be for the Cultural Festival in November. Here are some ideas, but not limited to: 13 colonies, statue of liberty, liberty bell, national bird, the meaning of the flag, presidents, states & capitals, declaration of independence, Native Americans, Pilgrims.

The students will need a visual aide to represent their project. They can use modeling clay, poster board, diorama, mobile display, power point, etc.. They will need written titles, explanations, or information. The projects will be displayed in our classroom during the festival for your child to present to parents, teachers, and students.

I will get back to you soon with more details regarding the cultural festival.
