Our celebration of literacy is next week.  We are looking forward to a week packed with all things reading and literacy. Here is a Schedule of events happening at the school throughout the week and a flyer for literacy night!

• Monday Feb 24th-
  • Kick off with a read-a-thon from 1:30 to 2:30. Depending on the classes choices this Friday will determine if they can bring blankets and snacks. I will let them know at the end of the day.
  • Book swap all week. Bring a book you are willing to donate and then choose a book to take home.  If you have books from your house you would like to donate please bring them on Monday.
• Tuesday- Spelling Bee
  • Nik and Koen are going to the spelling bee from our class. We will all be going and observing them. It starts at 9:30am in the large gym. Parents are invited.
• Wednesday
  • Students display a picture of their favorite book with a short summary that is hung up outside our classrooms.   Classes will be taking a book walk around the school to view these.
• Thursday- Literacy Night at MMA at 5:30-7 pm
  • Students will have a chance to earn a dress down day on Friday the 28th during the evening activity.
  • Bring your friends and family for a night of fun. We will have a book fair, a tea party, book making, poetry reading, and many other fun activities.
• Friday
  • We would like to have community readers come in on Friday. We have some junior high students who are coming into our class as well to read. If any parent or adult would like to come into class and share either all or part of their favorite book we would love that as well.

Upcoming is our school’s annual Chili Cook Off. This is a wonderful event for you to be apart of! Please enter to participate in this event. Anybody can participate and/or is welcome! Below is a flyer with more information. 

Hello Parents!

I have set up Parent Teacher Conference sign ups on Track it Forward. Parent Teacher Conferences will be December 17,18, and 19. I have set up nine slots for each day. Please choose the time that works best for you! Please remember that your students home project for the International Festival is due this week! The festival is on Friday. Please send your student to school with the project as soon as possible. Students will only be able to participate if they have completed a project. If it does not get finished they will be working on their research during the festival. Parents you are invited! Please come out and check out all of the awesome projects! The Festival is from 1-3 on Friday November 18! I would love to see you all come!

Reminders!

Our Fun Run is next week on Wednesday November 13th. Please encourage your students to get pledges. We have come up with pledge goals as a class, such as, hat day, pizza party, etc. I know the kiddos are super excited for these awards so please encourage them to ask friends, family, etc.

Also, Good news! Our Original Works deadline has been extended. There is still time to order something with your child’s artwork on it and still receive it before the holidays. You have until November 9th now. Late orders can be submitted until the 15th. Your children all worked hard on their art and are proud of it. These make good, easy gifts for grandparents and other family members. The ornaments and quilt squares are great keepsakes. Please take some time to view your options and order. The proceeds from this go directly to your student’s teacher to be used in the classroom. Simply follow the instructions provided on the Dear Family Letter you received previously.

Hello all!

What a great last couple of weeks this has been! An important reminder: Friday is an EARLY OUT. School will be dismissed at 1:00. Again, that is this Friday. I have updated my standards for the upcoming week with what we are going to be learning! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything you are more than welcome to email me!
