Week at a glance!

This is where you can find what we are doing during class for the whole week. I will be posting the Standards that the students will be learning, and what they are doing during their work cycle. These are the following Standards they will be learning through out the week.

ELA Standards

4th Grade  – RI.4.1, RI.4.3, SL.4.1

5th Grade – SL.5.1, SL.5.2, RI.4

6th Grade- RL.6.1, SL.6.1

All grades will be going over types of paragraphs depending on previous knowledge.

Math Standards

4th Grade – 4.NBT.1, 4.NBT.2

5th Grade – 4.NBT.1, 2.NBT.1, 4.NF.5-6

6th Grade – 6.RP.1

All grades will be learning the Hierarchy of needs number.

Week of 8/26-8/30

Grammar, Paragraphs,  ELA 3 and 4

The Great Lesson – Timeline of Life

A couple reminders: Specials begin this week. They will have art on Wednesday, computer lab, music, and P.E. on Thursday. Please have your student bring tennis shoes for P.E. This week, I will be sending planners home with the students. Within their planners, it will list what they do each day and will be used as a tool to communicate between school and home. Please look out for those. Thank you to those who came to the Luncheon on Thursday! It was a great day. Let’s have a great week!

Week of 9/9-9/13

Students this week will be starting their science lessons. Each grade will have one science lesson this week. Each grade will also be having two Math lessons and two Language Arts lessons. I will also be giving the class a great lesson (Story of Man). Students will also be going over the first set of spelling words. (These should be written inside of their planners.) We will also have our class specials on Thursday, along with Art on Wednesday.

Math Lessons 3&4

4th- 3, Name numbers within 1 million using place value chart. 4, 

Read/write multi digit numbers using base 10 numerals 

5th- 3, Use exponents to name place value, 4, Use exponents to denote powers of 10

6th- 3, Equivalent ratios and tape diagrams, 4, students can identify equivalent ratios

Language Lessons 5&6

4th- 5, Keeping track of how it all fits (Haundenosaunee). 6, Identifying Main idea

5th- 5, Mid Unit Assessment. 6, Close read on Human rights

6th- 5, Inference about Percy Jackson. 6, Vocabulary, Context Clues

Week of 10/21-10/26

Hello, I apologize for the delay in the update of my blog. Students this week will be having all of their core lessons. This includes math lessons, language lessons, and their science lesson. Along with that they will also be having a Geography lesson and project (In Class Project). They have all of their awesome specials this week that include: Art, Computer Lab, P.E., and Music.

Math Lessons

4th – Subtracting using 6 digit numbers and incorporating word problems using the standard algorithm.

5th – Dividing decimals using a dot chart and moving towards using the standard algorithm.

6th – Using ratios to make equations, graphing ratio tables, and find unit rates.

Week of 10/28-11/01

Hello! We have a very big week ahead of us! This week is Red Ribbon week! Here are the Spirit days for this week:

Monday: “Show your true colors and say no to drugs.” Each grade is encouraged their designated color. 

4th grade: pink

5th grade: purple

6th grade: red

Tuesday: “Don’t get mixed up with drugs!” Wear mismatched or crazy socks! 

Wednesday: “I am wild about being drug free!” Crazy hair day!

Thursday: “Team up against drugs!” Students can sport their favorite team shirts or jerseys!

Friday: “Saying no to drugs is no sweat!” Show your school spirit by wearing a sweatshirt/hoodie to school! 

REMINDER: STUDENTS ARE NOT ABLE TO DRESS UP ON HALLOWEEN! We will be doing some Halloween activities to celebrate that day!

They will be having two math lessons, two language arts, and a science lesson this week! They will also be creating their own landforms! Let’s have a great week!!

 

Week of 11/11-11/15

This week your student will be having lots of different lessons! They will each be given 3 language arts lessons, 3 math lessons, a science lesson, and multiple mini lessons (personal lessons). Students will be practicing reading and math fluency, they will also be participating in reading groups. A few quick reminders: Wednesday is our Boosterthon Fun Run! Thank you to all of you who have gotten pledges! If you haven’t registered your student, there is still some time. Just log onto funrun.com! Also, Picture retake day is on Thursday November 14th. Lastly, your students research for their home project is due on Friday November 15. This is part of our school-wide International Festival so please make sure it is being worked on at home! Week of 11/18-11/22

This week your students will be completing math and reading fluency everyday. They each will be receiving 2 core math lessons, 2 core language lessons, and a core science lesson. Along with their core lessons they will also be learning reading strategies in their reading groups, practicing presentation skills, and preparing for the International Festival. Your student will also be celebrating the class rewards they received from the Fun Run Pledges (Hat/Hoodie day and Board game day). The International Festival is Friday November 22nd from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. ALL PARENTS ARE INVITED!!! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! I am thankful for all of your students and the joy they bring to me!

Week of 12/9-12/13

This week your student will be continuing to practice their reading fluency everyday. They will also be learning all of the core lessons, 3 major language, 3 major math, and 2 science lessons. They will also be receiving additional personal lessons in the needed areas. They will be asked to participate in reading groups, and partner games to help practice their math fact skills. I will also be sending home a grade specific home project this week with your student!

Week of 01/20-01/24

This week students will be moving onto their new fluency word lists and passages. They will be given a core science lesson, multiple core math lessons, and multiple language lessons. They will also be participating in reading groups, along with math groups to help fill in extra knowledge to help move forward. We will also be having our weekly specials that include: Computer Lab, Library, P.E., and Music. (These always occur on Thursday’s) PLEASE PLEASE remind your student to be working on their home projects. These projects are due next Monday (January 27th). This is their last week to work on it before it is due!
