Dear parents,
We are still short of drivers/chaperones for the field trip to Crystal Hot Springs on Friday.
It is forecast to rain, but that will not stop us from going. If there is lightning, then we will seek shelter inside the building.

Dear parents,
This Monday May 20th we are running a “Swap Meet,” a kind of mini-market, with several other upper el classes. This will run in the morning from 9-11 am and students will have the chance to swap goods, or purchase goods using “Montessori money.” They have been earning this money during the weeks previous to the swap meet, through good works, being helpful, going above and beyond etc…
No “normal” US dollars can be used and students are encouraged to be courteous and honest in their transactions. Typically, students can earn between $15-25 of Montessori money in school prior to the meet.
Students can bring baked goods from home (cupcakes, cookies, brownies etc…) and other items they want to swap or sell. School policy still applies though, meaning no candy, soda, weapons, or potentially offensive material can be brought. Also, due to the new Junior High build, we will not be able to run electricity to the black top where it will be held.
After the meet we will hold a meeting with the students to see who was the most successful, what goods sold the best, what were the best selling strategies etc…
As usual, email me any other questions you may have.
Thank you!
John

With thanks – John
Dear parents,
The model UN presentations will take place on Wednesday May 15th. It is a requirement that all students are able to present information about their country and the specific information that they have been tasked to collect (see the post of April 23rd on Model UN research for who is doing what). I realize that for some of the students the information may be difficult to understand, so please let me know if they are struggling and I will see what I can do.
Thank you!
John
Dear parents,
Sadly, I will not be returning to MMA for the 2019-20 school year. I have had a wonderful experience teaching at the school and I will always have fantastic memories of my time here. Your support through the years has been awesome – thank you so much. Of course, for me the best thing about teaching here has been the children. Naturally, we have our ups and downs, but I am one of those priveleged people who get to share the joy, fun and laughs from the children on a daily basis. There’s really nothing quite like it.
As yet, a replacement hasn’t been hired, but I am more than happy to help you with any questions about transitioning your students into next year. Just drop me an email, or if you’d prefer, we can wait until PTC. I will be telling the students later this week.
Thank you again – John
Dear parents,
Earlier this week I gave the students the cover letter about our last field trip to Crystal Hot Springs on Friday May 17th.
We leave at approximately 8:45 from the North Shore Parking Lot and will return for 3 pm pick up. Girls should wear a one piece, please no tankinis or bikinis. Students need to bring flip flops, a towel, plastic bags for wet clothes, sunscreen lotion and googles if needed. Boys are encouraged to wear a rash guard, but this is not mandatory. There is a $1:50 fee for the use of a locker and please make sure the students bring a sack lunch.
Here is the cover letter: Cover letter for CHS
The cost for each child is $7, donations are kindly requested.
Please contact Ms. Alisha [eventhair@gmail.com] if you are interested in chaperoning.
Thank you!
John
