Just wanted to inform you all of our upcoming field trips. The way that the scheduling worked out, we will have two in one week but one will only be for 2 hours in the morning.
The first field trip is to the Ogden Nature Center on 12th Street. We will be going on this field trip with Ms. Kirsten’s class. It will be Monday, October 24. This is a morning field trip that will only be from 9 to 11 a.m. We will be participating in the Field Ecology field trip. This includes:
- Study of what lives in a field and how all living and non-living elements interact
- Learn about the plants and animals that live in Ogden Nature Center fields
- Predator/Prey relationships
- What is a true insect
- What role to humans play in a field ecosystem
- Seed dispersal-how seeds move
The field trip supervisor at the nature center told me this is his favorite field trip. We are excited to go. We will need parent chaperones and drivers. I have created a wejoinin signup sheet. The second field trip will be Wednesday, October 26th. We will be going to Black Island Farms. This is a field trip we go on every year and the kids love. Black Island Farms is in Syracuse and about a 20 to 30 minute drive from the school. We get to go on a wagon ride and learn about the crops grown at the farm. Each child then gets to pick out a small pumpkin to take home. The rest of the day is spent exploring the farm which includes a bounce house, slides, swings, pig races, a corn maze, and more. This field trip is scheduled from 9 a.m. to about 1 p.m. We will also need drivers and chaperones for this. Is you are able to chaperone please sign up on the wejoinin page.
