Welcome to the New Year!

Hello Everyone,

I am looking forward to seeing everyone and their artwork this year :)  Even though we will certainly be missing Ms. Trudy, I am excited for the opportunity to now be teaching all levels of art.

My office hours will be on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday from 3-4pm, and you will be welcome to come tour the art gallery.  Often, these hours will also be “open studio” hours for our artists to stay for extra work time.

As always, when students come to the art room please plan on them getting messy, but we do have plenty of aprons and cover shirts for them to use.  Indoor shoes are not required in the art studio.  It will be most safe and efficient if students with long hair use rubber bands to tie it up and remove any loose clothing (like scarves…).

We have many art materials available for students, including clay, paint, charcoal, oil pastels, and lots of sculpture and bookmaking supplies.  I am always excited to see their creativity!  Our art studio also has 2 studio parakeets- Lulu & Basil, to keep us entertained.

If your student has a passion for art, I recommend for them to have their own sketch book and drawing materials (like special markers or pencils that they can keep in their backpack).

If anyone would like to donate materials to our program, below is a list of materials that are always in high demand:

super glue
hot glue
duct tape
nails
screws
house paint
large cardboard sheets
masonite panels
wood panels
stretched canvas
fabric
sketchbooks
cotton rags and hand towels

Finally, if anyone one of you would be interested to help us make some cube, wooden sculpture pedestals, please let me know!  We could certainly use the help, and it would count toward your family’s volunteer hours :)

Thank you, and I hope to see you soon!
