Hello,

Welcome back to another week of school at MMA.  I hope students and parents had a fun and restful Fall break.  A couple of items of class business.  I will be asking the students what they would like to do for a Fall party.  This party can be either the 31st of October or November 1st.  I am open to either one.  I will pass those things on to our room parent Amanda Keener.  If you would like to contact Amanda, she has graciously provided her number and email.  Her email is amandaandsolo@yahoo.com.  I am sure she would welcome any input that you have

For our classroom, I am looking for a few items.  I would like the students to be able to have more practical life.in the classroom.   Therefore, I am looking to purchase felt (This can be the synthetic squares found at craft stores or the real deal).  We will be sewing some tooth pouches to send to our friends in Norway.  Also, I am looking for a couple of yards of burlap as well as cross-stitch plastic canvas or ada.  Darning needles and crochet needles and size 8 knitting needles.   If you know someone who has them or know where they can be purchased relatively inexpensively, let me know.   I am also looking for embroidery hoops as well.  I have priced them out and cannot find them for under $2.00.  These can be purchased individually or as wholesale.  We have 21 students in the classroom.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is picture day!  Students may dress in their best school uniform.  Hopefully, our time will be in the morning before PE.  Speaking of PE, please make sure that students have some type of running/tennis shoe for PE.  There have been several twisted ankles when students have tried running in boots and shooties.  If you would like to send them to school and students keep them here, I am okay with that extra pair of shoes hanging out in the cubbies for them to use on Tuesdays.

As another reminder, keep reading with your students.  It is a great way to increase skills.  Let them read to you.  It only takes about 10 minutes a day to increase children’s reading and vocabulary.  Put in a book on tape or on your phone if you are going to be in the car traveling…anywhere! Even a trip to the grocery store can be a reading adventure.

Have a wonderful week.

Thank you for all you do!

Ms. Shauna
