As a teacher I wanted to THANK YOU for all of your kindness lately. It has been so good from many parents ! From snacks , cooking activity, Gala Basket, etc. Thank you sooo much for all of your generosity!

Our Gala Basket will be AWESOME! I hope that will be really appreciated at the GALA and the person getting it will for sure enjoy it! it has all kinds of items ready to be use for the summer cooking 🙂

Please get your tickets to participate in this great event, there is still time! plus they said that the food at the Timbermine is great.

Talking about food. The class is fine this week with snacks thank you to all generous donations. We wanted to have a cooking day , but it looks like it will be a short week and may not be a great time , but next week we want to have a Waffle Day and the class may need some donations. I will create a list on Track it Forward again for any one that would like to donate some items for the waffles.

Just a friendly reminder that this week on Friday school will be off for students. Teacher will be learning in our professional development day! Also Thursday we will have Group Picture Day.

Home Projects are due the following week. Hopefully you get some bonding time with your children when you create this projects, you have to see the faces of your children when they present them in front of the class. 🙂

Thank you again for all you do, I know some of you are making big sacrifices for your children and we appreciate you!

Ms Pat and Mr Zoelan.

Hello Dear Parents,

Another month is gone and one more is coming! I love March because we can see that spring is almost here! As a class we can go to play in more warmer days and sometime even have lunch outside too!

March is coming with more activities and more fun… We have incorporated cooking as part of our weekly activities . It will go on every Friday. last Friday was our first cooking and we had pancakes for snack. This week we will have French Toast.

We also are having our music and movement activities were we are learning about some music from other countries and using rhythm sticks, maracas and now we would love to have some drums. For that if you have any of those ice cream tubs empty , please send them with your child, will be a great addition to our music box.

We are grateful for all of you that donated for the children’s snacks. We are ok for this week with snacks. The only thing would be a bottle of ranch for the children to have the carrots . If someone can donate one would be greatly appreciated. Also if someone can donate some eggs for Friday snack would be most appreciated.

Taking about donations, this is the week were MAPA would like to see all the donations for the GALA event. As today I have only two parents that have sign up to donate something for the classroom basket. Please take a look at the event donation that is in Track it Forward and see what you can kindly donate. The gifts should be in by Thursday this week.  Thank you!

The Gala Event will be this month on March 21st at 6:30 pm at The Timbermine. They said they have great food there!

As I said in the last blog message, this month also we have the Home Projects. I will be given the assignments as follow:

Hello Dear Parents,

another week is gone and we are into the last week of February.

Some fun and activities are coming this week with the start up of our Literacy Week. We hope that you are getting informed about all what is happening and if possible to participate! The Theme for this week is Reading Helps You Reach for the Stars”.

The first thing that you need to know is that tomorrow Monday we will start the Book swap week. That means that if you have any books at home that you would like to share with the school please send it with your child tomorrow and then your child will be able to exchange them for others.

Spelling Bee is going to be in the big gym on Tuesday at 9:30 am. If your child is participating in the spelling bee you are welcome to attend with your family.

Literacy Night is this Thursday from 5:30-7:00 pm and we encourage all parents to attend. It will be a great event to participate!

Something else to prepare ahead is next home projects are due the week of March 16th. These are based around zoology.

This is for First Grade Students will be assigned a specific category of vertebrate animal (fish, amphibian, reptile, bird, or mammal). The following are things they will be expected to cover in their presentation:

Provide an example of a specific animal in the category they have been assigned (e.g. salmon, seagull, frog, llama, etc.) Provide interesting facts about their specific animal. Describe the general characteristics of the type of animal (e.g. Feathers, warm blooded, lays eggs, etc.).
Describe the habitat it lives in. (e.g. water, land, both, etc.)

This is for Second Grade Students will need to research the category of invertebrate animal that they have been assigned. The following are things they will be expected to cover in their presentation:

How it looks– its physical characteristics
Where it lives
How it moves
How and what it eats
Other interesting facts

This is for Third Grade Students will research a biome that is located on the continent their class is studying for the second semester. They will need to include information about the climate(weather, temperature, etc.), natural resources, people, plants, and animals. They should also have a picture of a map that shows where this biome is located. Biome of Europe(South side)/ Africa(North Side).

As today , Sunday we have only one parent signing up for snacks for the class. (Thank you Amanda Keener !)

Your children are expecting to have some kind of snack during the morning especially on Tuesdays when they have lunch at 12:30 due to specials.  We will have to ask parents to send an individual snack with your child this week if no more parents sign up.

There is a sheet created on Track it Forward for you to see and sign for your convenience. I will let you know by Tuesday if that is the case. I appreciate your understanding.

I also created a sign up sheet for the GALA event for you to see and sign up. Please take a look at it . Thank you!

Thank you again for your support !!

Parents in Room 5 are awesome!

Hello Dear Parents,

Some of you have been asking about the STEM Fair Project. I have the information as follows:

For the STEM Fair home project, we will ask that your child create a science presentation. We want to treat our STEM Fair not as a general “Science Fair,” but rather a celebration of science. Students will do a project using the scientific method. This science celebration presentation is not limited to just a tri-board. Some ideas include, but are not limited to:

Poster or tri-fold board
Brochure
Hands-on experiment with write-up
Experiment demonstration by student (must be able to show over and over)
Create a board game
Video (Example: Make their own Bill Nye)
Performance or skit
Diorama
Create a book
Create a lesson or work

STEM Fair is the week of February 3d.

I have also created a list of snacks that you can sign up. Is in the Track It Forward . Please take a look.

We did fairly good the first week of class. I see a lots of the students been engage and ready to learn. That is great! I hope we will continue like this this week. Third grade was introduced to new lessons and systems to help them to transition into four grade. Thay are growing!

Teachers were in a very intensive training for a new reading program, that I see will bring lots of progress to our students.

This week some of the new lessons are Geometry for Third Grade learning the Parts of a Polygon.  Folding/ Faulting of the earth and  Earthquakes for Second Grade and First Grade learn to order objects by length.

We are starting our new term this Monday and I wish everyone the best. We, the teachers are trying our best.
