Week of 9/9-9/13
Math Lessons 3&4
4th- 3, Name numbers within 1 million using place value chart. 4,
Read/write multi digit numbers using base 10 numerals
5th- 3, Use exponents to name place value, 4, Use exponents to denote powers of 10
6th- 3, Equivalent ratios and tape diagrams, 4, students can identify equivalent ratios
Week of 9/23-927
4th – Round multi-digit numbers to the thousands place using the vertical number line, round multi-digit numbers to any place using number line, and applying algorithm to solve word problems.
5th – Solving two step word problems, and adding and subtracting fractions.
6th – understanding relationship between ratios and fractions by solving problems by comparing different ratios in different tables.
Week of 10/21-10/26
Math Lessons
4th – Subtracting using 6 digit numbers and incorporating word problems using the standard algorithm.
5th – Dividing decimals using a dot chart and moving towards using the standard algorithm.
6th – Using ratios to make equations, graphing ratio tables, and find unit rates.
Week of 10/28-11/01
Math Lessons
4th – Lesson 16 Subtracting using standard algorithm with 6 digit numbers and story problems, Lesson 17 Solve additive compare word problems modeled with tape diagrams, Lesson 18 Solve multi-step word problems modeled with tape diagrams and assess the reasonableness of answers using rounding.
5th – Lesson 15 Dividing Decimals using the standard algorithm, Lesson 16 Solve word problems using decimal operations, Module 2 Lesson 1 Multiply multi-digit whole numbers and multiples of 10 using place value patterns and the distributive and associative properties.
6th – Lesson 16 Finding unit rates using ratios, Lesson 17 Given a rate, students find ratios associated with the rate, including a ratio where the second term is one and a ratio where both terms are whole numbers, Lesson 18 Interpreting a rate as a division of two quantities, or better yet a fraction, is the first step towards converting measurement units using rates later in the module, and dimensional analysis in high school. They use this interpretation of a rate in word problems when multiplying a rate by a quantity.
Week of 11/11-11/15
4th – Students will be using multiple step addition and subtraction and applying it to real world scenarios. (Word Problems)
5th – Students will be continuing to learn long division using decimal numbers and applying it to real world situations.
6th – Students are going over how to find the unit rates of ratios and how to simplify/reduce ratios into lowest possible term.
Week of 01/20-01/24
4th – Students will be wrapping up their unit on Perimeter and Area and will be moving to Multiplication by 10, 100, 1000
5th – Students will be wrapping up their unit on Multiplication of Decimals and moving onto long division
6th – Students will continue learning and understanding how to find Percentages
