Level 3- Upper El- “shadowing”

Parents,

On Monday, March 16- the Level 3’s will have the opportunity to “shadow” a student in a upper elementary classroom. Each student has been placed with a teacher whom they will be with for a part of the day.

I placed your student in a random pick to one of our upper elementary teachers. This is not to say they will get that teacher. I was just asked to place the level three’s in a spot so they can have the experience to see what an upper elementary class does to have them adjust to their new opportunity next year.

Please try to have your student attend school this day so they can be able to experience this.

If you have any questions- please email me.

Thank you-

Ms. Leslee

Lunch- food items

Parents,

I have noticed some of our students are leaving their food items in their locker. Please no food in the locker. I’ve asked them to please take home their lunch if they have finished or not finished.

This is not sanitary to leave food in the locker.

Please talk with your student to make sure they are taking all their lunch items home.

Thank you.

Literacy Week- February 24th-February 28th

Our Theme is “Reading Helps You Reach for the Stars.”

Monday- February 24th is the kick-off to the literacy week. I would ask your student to bring a pillow (if they desire) to read from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Another event which takes place this week is the “book swap.” If you have any books you don’t want anymore and would like to bring them in so another child can have an new opportunity for a new book. Your child will also be able to chose a new book from someone else who brings in their books they don’t want.

Wednesday- February 26th– If you could provide a picture of your students favorite book. We will be posting these outside our classroom so the students will be able to have a picture tour and see all the students pictures of their books. We will be posting these along our hallways.

Friday-February 28th– if any parent can come in and read their favorite book we can arrange a time for you to come in and share. If you can email me- I can arrange this in my lesson plan for a time slot for reading. I would love to have any parent come and share.

If you have any questions- please email me.

Also, Thursday- 27th – our class will be having our “Make a Pizza” lunch date. I will be making homemade pizza and ask if each student can help to bring one ingredient to help supply the pizzas. I will provide the yeast and flour, shortening and pizza sauce.

If you could let me know I can plan on what we need to do. Please email as soon as you can.

Thank you-

Ms. Leslee and Ms. Susan

Gala- upcoming March 21st

Parents,

The Gala is upcoming on March 21st. This event will be held at the Timbermine. There will be dinner, Country Dance Lesson, Silent Auction, Art Auction and Raffles.

Ms. Leslee’s class basket is “pampered mom.” These are the following items which can be an idea.

Ms. Heather from our MAPA presidency has asked me to share -if one item can be brought in the students will have a option to receive a coupon for a cookie or a slushie (while supplies last).

Pampered mom:  Bath bombs, salts, towels, candles, nail polish, nail kits, masks, teas, treats ext.

If you have any questions please email me as this is a new event for me and I’ll find your answer.

Thank you-

School Spelling Bee- Tuesday- February 25th

Spelling Bee- Upcoming

Parents,

Level 3- (third graders)  and upper elementary as well as junior high students have the opportunity to participate in the school’s Spelling Bee.

This will be held on Tuesday- February 25th. The time will be 9:30 a.m. This will be in the large gym. Parents and those who would like to come and support their student are welcome.

There will be 2 – level 3’s chosen from each class of lower elementary. Two chosen from upper elementary and 4 chosen from junior high.

Those who are eligible will move on to Regional. This takes place about a little over a week after our school spelling bee. The date is March 7.

I have given out to all students the spelling words. There are 3 pages. Level 1, Level 2, Level 3. This just means the advancement of the words.

Home Project- February 12-March 13

I wonder….. A photo presentation about something students are curious about. Students will use a KWL. This is what I know. What I want to know.  What I learned to chart to present this.

If you want to make a paper chart and do pictures (draw)  this is also fine- instead of a photo presentation.

Know, What I do know, What I learned.  We will present in class.

If you have any questions please email me.

Thank you,

Ms. Leslee and Ms. Susan

Science Projects

Thank you so much for such great project which were brought in to the classroom. The students had an opportunity to share with three other classes today.

I really think they enjoyed being able to share their information and be able to “present.” I truly appreciate your willingness to help your student to learn at home and do family fun activities to build the relationships you can with your child.

If your student still want to bring in a science project- please have them come with it.

I always am amazed at how much your student knows and how well they present themselves in front of the students in class.

Thank you.
