Parent- “guest” presentation

Dear Parents,

This Thursday, October 3. I have a parent who is coming in to share some information with your children. She will be presenting at 1:00 p.m.

She is a mental health therapist and behavior analyst. She works with teens who have autism and other mental health issues. She will be sharing her thoughts about how children can deal with other children who have differences and also about when a friend or family member is feeling down.

There is many situations out in the world with depression and suicide. Children need to understand there is help available and people who they can communicate with.

“I Wonder” -presentations

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those who helped your child to put together “I Wonder.”

It was very exciting to see and hear those who were able to share their presentation. If there are any other’s who would like to share a short presentation I’m happy to hear them.

Upcoming “home projects” are due the week of October 7-11.

Thank you so much for helping your child and letting them be able to share their talents and develop them as we grow together.

Weather- recess

Dear Parents,

As the weather is changing and we are having more wet days I would ask that you make sure your child has the appropriate outside clothing to go outside. Rain boots, jacket and or coat, hats, gloves, etc.

We are asked to go outside except when the weather is too severe. I just wanted to make sure that each parent was aware of our daily outside recess time. We go outside for 30 minutes.

Thank you-

Ms. Leslee and Ms. Susan

Level 3- History- Prehistoric Animal

Parents, Level 3 students are asked to complete the following “home project” to share with the class during the week of October 7-10.

History – Prehistoric Animal

Your student will choose a dinosaur or other prehistoric animal to research and present. They will need to explain what time period the animal lived, where on the Earth it lived, what it ate, and other interesting facts.

They may present this as creatively as they wish.

Thank you.

History-Fundamental Needs- Level 2

Parents,

Level 2- students will need to complete a research of a fundamental human need. This can be done in one of two ways. The first is to research a certain need (communication, transportation, etc.) and learn how mankind has met this need through time. (For example, if a student is researching transportation, they can report on the advancement from walking to riding animals to creating machines like cars, trains and planes.

The other method of research is to pick a civilization and time period. (For example, Ancient Egypt). The student would then research how this group of people met four of the fundamental human needs.

Please help your student to complete this “home project” and return to share the week of October 7-10.

Thank you-

Ms. Leslee and Ms. Susan

History- upcoming “home projects”

Level 1- Timeline of my Life– Students will create a timeline of their own life in a book form. They will need a page for each year of their life and will label each page for each year of their life.

On each page, they will need to attach a photo that was taken during that year. Under each photo they will need to write a sentence about that year in their life. They will need to design a cover for their book.

Please help your student to complete this. We will share the week of October 7-10.

Thank you
