This week!

It was great to see everyone back again after the long weekend!

Going into this week, some due dates that are coming rapidly for you to know about:

The 4th Graders got their assignment for the Utah history fair on Friday, they should have brought home a paper.  Today we discussed their topics for research, which I will post here so you have them.  This project will culminate in both a written research paper and a final product that will be on display in April.

The due dates:

  • Bibliography – 3/26 (this must include AT LEAST 2 print resources)
  • Rough  Draft – 3/30
  • Final Draft (with display) – 4/9
  • In class presentation and hallway display 4/12-13

The topics chosen:

  • Jayce: Native Americans, Navajo
  • Zeagon: Native Americans;Goshute
  • Harmony – History of Ogden
  • George – Mormon Rebellion
  • Annabelle – Mormon Pioneer (she will narrow this down to a particular pioneer)
  • Brynlee – History of Salt Lake City
  • Erik – State Motto and what it means
  • Kam – History of the Railroad
  • Meila – Plants Unique to Utah
  • Lilly – Animals Unique to Utah
  • Donovan – Utah Money Before Mints

The 6th Graders should be continuing their Biography book report.  As a reminder, they can present the information from the book report in any way they choose (newspaper, book cover, mobile, traditional report, etc.)  See previous post for more detail.  These will be due on the 30th

The 5th Graders should be continuing work on their Invention Convention.  They have packets and should have been working on this project for quite a while now.  Those are coming due NO LATER THAN THE 27th (which is one week from today).

ALL GRADES:

Your child will be in a concert to show case what they have been working on in music class.  Your child should have brought home a flyer with more information.

When: April 20.  Students must arrive no later than 6:30 PM, the concert will begin at 7

Where: Weber High School Auditorium

What to wear: students must wear black bottoms (pants or skirts covering the knee), a solid color top with no logos or designs, and black shoes and socks.

Other info:

  • Two parent volunteers per classroom are needed to help organize students backstage before the concert. Please sign up here
  • Two parent volunteers are needed to play piano for the concert.  Please contact Clarissa Lunt at clunt@mariamontessoriacademy.org if you are interested.
