Parents,

I hope you are as excited for the first week of school as Ms. Martha and I are.  Here are a few important details that you should know

*Early release all week  

AM class 8:30 to 10:30

PM class 11:00 to 1:00

* Please sign up for a slot to bring snack.

* Please keep the gallon zip-lock bag of extra clothes in you child’s backpack.  We don’t have enough cubby space to store them at school.

*  Drop off and pick up 

AM class – Ms. Martha or I will be outside before school starts to help the children get comfortable with the routine for the first week of school.  When school is over we will bring the children to the front of the school by the main doors.  You are welcome to park and walk over and pick them up or you can stay in your car and drive though the pick up line to get your child.

PM Class – Please drop your child off by the main doors.  If the doors are not open when you arrive you will need to wait with your child until someone from the office opens the doors. Ms. Martha or I will come down and greet the children the first week of school. For pick up we will walk all the kindergarten and preschool children to the south end of the building and wait with them until a designated person comes and gets them (like an older sibling, babysitter, daycare, or parent).  This can be a very crazy time of day but after the first few weeks of school the craziness dies down and it runs very smoothly, please be patient.

New student orientation will be happening on Friday August 14th.  If you have not been through this before with an older child let me give you some insight into how it goes.  The children from the morning class will have their orientation from 1:00 to 1:45.  The children from the afternoon class have their orientation from 2:00 to 2:45.  Plan on dropping off your child outside (not walking them into the building).  Don’t worry we have not lost anyone yet;).  Ms. Martha and I will be outside with a sign so we are easy to find and we will walk the children back to the classroom.  This time is to give the children a brief introduction to the classroom  and give them a chance to meet Ms. Martha and myself.  We look forward to meeting everyone!

Here is a list of classroom supplies

Classroom supply list

Personal items (labeled with child’s name)
– Backpack
– inside shoes/slippers
– Gallon size zip-lock bag which contains: pants, shirt, underwear, socks
– water bottle
– 1/2 inch white 3 ring binder with the child’s name on the inside cover
– package of sheet protectors

Optional classroom donations
– clipboards with the bar across the top instead of the big clamp.  They take up less space to store.
– sponges (the ones without the scrubbing surface)
– water colors
– gallon size zip lock bags
– white construction paper
– Kleenex
– paper towels
– glue sticks
– fine tip dry erase markers
– AA batteries(these are for our listening station CD player)

*Notice* The items on this list will be used during the regular school day.  They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis.  Otherwise they will be furnished by the school.
