End of April

Hello Everyone!

Can you believe that this is the last week of April? I am so glad we are getting nice spring weather. We are supposed to get in the 70s next week. I hope you are all able to get outside with your families, go for walks, play in the yard, whatever you can while still practicing social distance and safety.

Thank you all for all you are doing to work with your child or children. I know it has not been an easy adjustment. Even as a trained teacher, teaching my own child is hard. I really appreciate all that you are all doing to work with your own families. Thank you all!

I wanted to let you know about our plan as a lower el team for the reminder of the school year, starting May 4th. Thank you to everyone who was able to take the survey. As a team we used the information given on it to make our decision for May. We are going to move forward with the final weeks of school in May the same way we have been doing distance learning thus far. We will provide paper packets for all who would like them, and continue using our digital resources for all who use those as well. I will be making a paper packet for everyone unless I hear from you. If you do not want a paper packet for the final weeks of school, please send me an email as soon as you can. These packets will be available to pick up starting the first week of May. I will remind you again next week.

We will be doing Parent Teacher Conferences the same week we had it scheduled for before school was closed. We will do it via Zoom meetings. Sign ups will be available first part of May. We will also be doing a celebration of level 3s bridging to upper el. When we have a definitive plan, we will let you know.

I have greatly appreciated all who have been able to join our Zoom meetings. Ms. Tiffany and I love seeing and interacting with the kids. Thank you for helping make that possible. We will still have our meeting on Tuesday at 9:30. However, our Thursday meeting will be changed to 6:00 pm. I am changing it this week because I know there are many who have a hard time getting on earlier because of things like work and whatnot. I want to try it in the evening and see if we can get more wonderful faces on. Thank you for your flexibility with this. This past week we talked about flowers and pollination. This week we will be talking about vertebrates and invertebrates. If possible, I would like students to pick a living thing that is an animal and share with us if it is a vertebrate or invertebrate and 3 facts about it. For example, if a student chooses a lobster, they could share that it is an invertebrate, they are part of the crustacean family, they eat live food such as fish, and they never stop growing until they die. They can share this on Tuesday or Thursday and they can also share twice if they would like.

Just a reminder that Heggerty videos are on the lower el blog. Here is the link for the videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqKLeUeLT5s4n9cJemOGDlQ You will need to register to Ms. Mikaela’s Youtube to see them all. Ms. Tiffany and I did them again for this coming week, so get on and your child can do Heggerty with us. They are short videos, between 5 and 10 minutes long. I highly encourage you to have your child do them.

My husband’s knee recovery is coming along. He is able to move around a lot more and in a lot less pain. The swelling is going down as well. I am doing well, also. I think my little one is trying to grow faster than my stomach though. He is a wiggler and gets hiccups a lot. I like feeling his movements though, unless I am trying to sleep. I feel well, other then lower back pain on occasion and heartburn. These are minor things though and I will live. I have 7 weeks left, and really want to make it to my due date, June 12. I am in no rush to get him here, but excited for it to come.

As always, thank you and please let me know if there is anything I can do for you and your families.

Take care.

Jalee
