Guten Abend Students and Parents!

Our students have been invited to participate in a week long language immersion summer camp hosted by the Weber School District German Teachers. This experience will be held the week of July 9-13. This camp costs $250 for your student to attend. This camp is open to students at all levels in  all grade levels (Jr. High- High School). If your student is interested in participating, please let me know as soon as possible and I can discuss payment with you. More detailed information can be found at: http://blog.wsd.net/jrjackson/german-summer-camp-2014-5/

Please note again the registration date for this camp is coming up quickly (I just recently received the information about this camp), so if your student is interested in this awesome immersion opportunity, please let me know as soon as possible.

Unit 6 Assessment

Moin students and parents!

The students have finished learning material for Unit 6. This means the unit assessment will be coming up this week on Thursday. The assessment will cover vocabulary on:

  • Haustiere (pets)
  • Tiere auf dem Bauernhof (Farm animals)
  • Persönlichkeit (personality traits)

Last week I handed out a study sheet so the students know exactly what they will be tested on. I have also talked to students about a way they can study using Quizlet flashcard sets online. I would highly recommend they do so, and they can access these card decks on this blog under the Quizlet tab.

The review will be held on Tuesday, so it is important for the students to be there, especially if they have missed any days during Unit 6.

Vielen Dank! Bis Dienstag!

Coming up in German Class…

Hello students and parents! We have just finished Unit 5, learning about the weather, how to write a letter, and hobbies. Next up we will be starting to read a small novel in class on top of the new unit material. This will require the students to be present in class, work hard, and may require them to have a bit more homework than usual. This book will help their German grow exponentially. The students have learned so much already. Keep up the great work everybody!!! 😀

Servus students and parents!

Next Wednesday, December 20th we will be building and decorating gingerbread houses as part of a cultural lesson. I will be providing graham crackers, frosting and a few assorted types of candy for the students to use in decorating. We would love it if you would be willing to send your students with other decorating materials as a donation to our classes.  Thank you for all your support!

Hi students!

Here are the links to the songs we will be singing at the Rootbier Garten. We will be going over the lyrics in class, but now you can get a head start by listening to the songs at home.

Hooray!

Hi students and parents!

Our German students have just finished their first assessment in this class. Overall the students did a fantastic job! We will be slowing down with vocabulary in the next couple weeks so we can work on other cultural aspects of learning a new language.

Congratulations, students, on learning so much vocabulary in Unit 1. Keep up the good work!
