Dear Parents,

I sent home permission slips for our field trip to the library yesterday. Please make sure that your student returns their packet by next Wednesday, February 3rd . In the packet, I put an ‘X‘ in places that require extra attention. (signatures etc.) I also attached a wejoinin sign-up sheet for chaperons. We need 8-9 volunteers. Please be at the school on February 25 at 12:30. We will return to the school around 2:30. Thanks for all of your support and positive feedback.

Please read the description on the sign-up sheet, to get a better understanding of what is required as a chaperon.

Dear Parents,

We will be doing a collaborative store with our upper ele class, on Wednesday the 20th. Students will earn money and exchange it for items other students bring. Please take into consideration what your child brings to support their store.  Help them decide if they want to provide a service, or create something, rather than just bring things they don’t want. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Miss Elise

Dear Parents,

We will be doing a tech day at least once a month. This is an opportunity for students to use the resources purchased by the school, like MYON and IXL. I sent information for both services during conferences in October. There are only 5 students, who are using these programs in our classroom. These 5 students are excelling, due to the additional support. If your student is struggling in reading or math, taking time to use these services, will make a world of difference. Please let me know if you need their account information, or a need a recommendation for your child.

Thanks,

Miss Elise

Dear Parents,

We took a hiatus from spelling during December, but spelling tests will begin again on Thursday.  All of the spelling lists are available on the blog.  We should move up one level each week, but your child will know if there is a variation.   In addition to the list of the week, words will be randomly selected from the past two spelling tests.

Most of the spelling lists are based on phonetic rule that will assist the students become excellent readers.  We notice that students who practice these words at home, do much better on the tests.  If your student resists home practice, find a way to make it fun.  For example, they can write the words with bubble letters, use alphabet magnets to spell on the fridge or create silly poems or sentences.

Level 1   – Kale, Madden, Taige, Reuger and Gen

GREEN 1 (There will not be any review words this week, but they will be adding the reviews in subsequent weeks.)

Level 1A – Haila, Randi and Emmy

GREEN 9 with a review of GREEN 8 & 7

Level 2 – Kam, Cameron, Marley, Indra, Boen, Ava, Wyatt, Brylie and Lilly

GREEN 25 with a review of GREEN 24 and 23

Level 3 – Gage, Skyler, Jenna and Corbin

GREEN 46 with a review of GREEN 45 and 44

Challenge – Matthew, Eheieh, Dylan and Brendan

Wordly Wise Level 4 #1  This group is focusing more on vocabulary.  They will practice in class on the ipad.  You may download this free app on a phone or ipad.

Thanks,

Miss Elise and Miss Carolyn
