Dear Parents,

On Fridays,  I will be sending  home journals with the student’s work charts in them. I would like you to look at your child’s work chart, sign it, and return it to school. This way you to have a better understanding of what your child is doing and how they are managing their time.

My daily expectation for students in first grade: 4 works done, 2 math and 2 language

My  daily expectation for students in second and third grade: 6 works done, one small math, one large math, language, grammar, reading,  and writing.

Please let me know if you have any questions. The students have been working very hard, and are excited  to share their charts. Please return journals to school no later than Wednesday. We will need them again for the following Friday.

Thanks,

Miss Elise

If anyone is interested: From the classroom of: Nicole Householder
Dear Parents-
Next semester for Upper Elementary studio I will be teaching The Art of Physiology.  My vision is to be doing hands-on-dissections and having professional visits from people relating to health science and physiology.  I would like this class to be a more in-depth approach for those students who are seeking and are interested in anatomy sciences, being doctors, nurses, dentists or anywhere in the health field.
I am seeking two things:
  • ·         Professionals of any of the fields or contacts to professionals
  • ·         With hunting season coming up- I am seeking animal parts (hearts, brains, etc.) that I can than freeze for lessons.
Please contact me if you have questions, contacts or remains.
Please let me know by October 3!

Dear Parents,

I am sure you have heard your children talk about our class pet Lizzie the bearded dragon. We are starting a fund to keep her in our classroom! In order to keep Lizzie happy and healthy she gets 5 large crickets in the morning, and 3 large super worms for lunch. If anyone is interested in helping, either with cash, gift cards, or the actual items please email me, or send the items with your child to school. I know how much the students love her, and I would love to keep her! Any contribution will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Miss Elise

Hello Parents,

I just wanted to send a few quick reminders:

– Please don’t send foods that have to be cooked more than 1 minute. (If you would like to send food items like instant noodles,  please cook them the night before and then just heat it up at lunch.)

– Please remind your children to check and make sure they have everything they need to eat their lunch with: plates, forks, spoons etc. We have very few of these items, and they are meant for snack purposes.

Thank you for your extra help in making sure that lunch runs smoothly, and allowing  the children plenty of time to eat.

Thanks,

Miss Elise

Dear Families,

We are excited to begin using Montessori Compass in each of our early childhood and elementary classrooms. This program will be used for lesson planning and record keeping. The parent portal of this site is simply amazing! You can view the lessons your child’s teacher has planned for the week, the lessons they received and the progress they are making across all areas. The school calendar will be updated on a weekly basis so you can see the big events that are going on at MMA.

The parent resource site is full of Montessori philosophy and information; when your child says they have done “snake game” you can view a photo and a brief write up about what the material actually is and how it helps your child academically (it doesn’t have anything to do with actual snakes!).
