Last week of school
It is hard to believe this school year to coming to an end. Remember parent teacher conferences will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The book fair with be held Monday 3 p.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 1-6 p.m. I believe this book fair is the buy one get one free event.
Monday is regular schedule with dismissal at 3:00 p.m. and early out Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
Thursday students will receive their yearbooks. I would suggest sending a pen for signing year books. I will provide small autograph booklets for students who did not order yearbooks.
I look forward to visiting with you and your child at our conferences this week. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me an email.
Bridging Ceremonies
Monday the Kindergarten bridging ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. on our school field. Our plan is to eat lunch with our new class members directly after the ceremony. Please provide your child with a lunch that will not need to be warmed. I know the weather is touch and go and we will make adjustments as needed. I anticipate the field to be wet, but if the sky is clear, we will be outside eating. If your child would like to bring a small blanket to eat on that would be appreciated. If the field is extremely wet, we will sit on the pavement.
Our third grade bridging ceremony will be Tuesday starting at 10:30 a.m. Again, third graders will be eating outside with their upper elementary mentor class, please send lunches that do not require the use of the microwave ovens. If you are coming to watch the ceremony please be prepared to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Store
Monday afternoon we will be having our annual store. The students are really excited. They have created their own businesses and may sell items such as: original drawings, origami, bracelets, etc. or they may sell small trinkets (kids meals toys, birthday grab bag items) or used unwanted items from home (coloring books, small stuffed animals, etc.) Students should not go and purchase items to sell for store. Also, if a student brings any item that has a retail value over $1.00, they must bring me a signed note from their parents stating that have permission to sale the item for store.
I also ask that you make certain your child brings a backpack to school the next few days, they will need them to carry home their items from the school year.

Choir information from Ms. Connie
May 19th:
Spring Choir Concert
Those with last names that start with the letters A-K will come to the 6 o’clock performance.
Those with last names that start with the letters L-Z will come to the 7 o’clock performance.
The concert will only be about 30-35 minutes long. All the children are encouraged to come, but not required. The children should wear their nicest clothes…
Proper concert dress: Sunday (wedding, funeral) best…Ties and collared, button up shirt, perhaps suspenders, or Dresses (not showing shoulders or back) with leggings or tights (no bare legs). They do not need to have a collar on the dresses. Of course they are encouraged to find these items but, they are not required. They do not necessarily need to be school dress code, but appropriate and not distracting for the event.
The idea is to keep families together to watch their upper and lower Elementary children together. If they have multiple last names of multiple children that are assigned to come at different times…they can choose which one they attend…this should only effect a couple of families. I would encourage their whole family to all go to the 7:00 pm performance. It seems there is more room at that time. Again, the families only need to go to one performance. They aren’t invited to go to both just to watch, they need to go to just one because of space limitations.
Honor Choir
There will be an honor choir created for the graduation ceremonies. I will have practice for both the 3rd and 6th level honor choir during lunch on May 10th, 11th, 12th,17th, 18th, 19th. The honor choir is by my invitation and their desire to accept only. They will come to the north kiva for 15 minutes during their lunches for about 2 weeks in May. They will need to bring an easy lunch to eat quickly and clean up. At 12:15 come to the North Kiva to practice until 12:30. They will need to be there EVERY time and on time except for testing. If this poses a problem for your class schedule or procedure please contact me asap. They will need to check with their parents if they can even attend these three events…especially the 9th grade graduation since it is after school. The other two on 24th and 25th are during school time.
