Welcome Back!

I’m excited to see your children tomorrow.  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break full of family and fun.

The Cultural Festival was wonderful.  Thank you for your support.

The following students were absent and have not turned in their cultural project yet.  Please have them turn it in as soon as possible.

Alex, Naomi & Emery

Our next field trip is Tuesday.  We will be going to Astro Camp.

  • We will meet at North Shore parking lot at 8:20 a.m. and leave at 8:30 a.m. arriving at Astro Camp at 9:00 a.m.
  • We will leave Astro Camp at 12:30 p.m. and return to Maria Montessori Academy via private drivers at 1:00 p.m.
  • We will NEED THREE OR FOUR PARENT CHAPERONES to drive and chaperone for this field trip.
  • Please make sure you arrange a ride for your child to and from this field trip.  Ms. Heidi sent an e-mail out to all of you earlier this week.  You can contact her at: heidibradley81@gmail.com

Students should bring a sack lunch (there will not be a microwave) and wear weather appropriate clothing.  We will only be outside when we are going from the vehicles to the building and back again.

The sixth graders Science Fair proposal is due on Tuesday November 27th.

SNACK

THERE ARE STILL A COUPLE OF OPENINGS FOR SNACK THIS SCHOOL YEAR!

Please use the following link to view when your child is signed up to bring snack OR to sign your child up for snack.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f044caaa823a3f85-snack3

In our Montessori environment we have a healthy mid-morning snack each day.

Please sign up for at least two weeks throughout the school year. If each family provides snack for two separate weeks then we should have enough snack for all the students to enjoy each day.

Please send in enough snack for the whole week on Monday morning with your child. We have a refrigerator in the classroom the students can store any snack food for the week. This is a very important part of the school day.

Please only send healthy snacks. Some examples of healthy snacks are: fruits, vegetables, crackers and cheese, yogurt, applesauce, chips and salsa. If you send something like chips and salsa or applesauce please also send little cups for the students to put the salsa or applesauce in. Thank you so much for helping our classroom with snack for the year.

OGDEN ELECTRIC LIGHTS PARADE

November 24th is the annual Ogden Electric Lights Parade. Our school will be represented and the marketing committee has come up with a float that will represent MMA.

We are looking for students from MMA who would like to be part of our parade! The meeting place will be in front of the Ogden Temple. The parade starts promptly at 5:30pm. The floats will be lined up at 5pm.

Students 12 years and you get must ride in the trailer or truck. If you are over the age of 12 then you may walk next to the float. Students who ride or walk will be carrying white peace signs or holding tea lights.

If your child would like to be a part of the parade then we will have waivers to sign in front of the temple.

The parade starts on 22nd and Washington and then ends at 27th. My advice would be for our MMA parents whose child(ren) are in the parade park towards the end of the parade so when we are done you can find your child.

We have some, but if your child would like to wear glow necklaces and bracelets during the parade we highly suggest the more the better! (It is a light parade!) the glow wear is also our symbol to honor Troy and Molly Cox.

If you have any questions you can ask Autumn in the office or me- Ms. Kaley. I will do my best to answer anything I know.

4th graders will be getting more information about their home project after Thanksgiving Break.

Astro Camp

Your children should have brought home a red paper with all of the information for our next field trip.  This field trip is on November 27th.  The permission slips have all been filled out, the paper I sent home was just for your information.  Ms. Heidi has e-mailed all of you, if you haven’t heard from her please let me know.  Please respond to Heidi’s e-mail if you can drive or chaperone for this field trip.

Thank you!

CULTURAL FESTIVAL TOMORROW!!!

The cultural festival is TOMORROW, Friday and you are absolutely welcome to attend and tour the school with your child.

We will be having a set break schedule to ensure that students are with their projects for the majority of the time.  Please do not take your child from their project until it is their break, and help them return to their project on time.  The schedule of breaks looks like this:

1:00-1:15 – all student in classroom
1:15-1:40 – 4th graders take break
1:45 -2:10  – 5th graders take break
2:15-240 – 6th graders take break
2:45-3:00 – all students back in classrooms to restore.
I hope that helps schedule your visit to the school this Friday! I look forward to seeing you all here.

Bibliography

We learned how to write a bibliography today.  If your child wasn’t at school please print off this paper and go over how to write a bibliography with them at home.  Bibliographies are a requirement for most of the home projects this year.  It is very important your children know how to write one.

I wish I had time to make up all the lessons missed by students when they are not at school.  Thank you for taking the time to go over this lesson with your students.

Classroom Gratitude Feast

Please join us Thursday at 11:30 am for our classroom gratitude feast.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy each others company and a great meal.  I would like to extend a huge thank you to Heidi Bradley for arranging this feast for our classroom.  The students look forward to this event every year.  Last year all but two students had family attend, it really means a lot to them to have a loved family member come to this event.  Please look at your schedules and try to come join us.

Your children should have brought home an invitation to our gratitude feast, please look in their backpacks.
